The UKs most reliable train is...

Post by nightbeaver911 »

SWTs class 421/5. Well acording to Modern Railways.

http://mercurio.iet.unipi.it/pix/gb/ele ... WT4VEP.jpg (for people who dont know what a 421 is :D .

The least reliable is Wales and Borders class 143 (pacer). Although over the last four weeks the least reliable train has been MMLs HST sets! :(

Reliability is based of miles per casulty source: Modern Railways: January 2004. A good buy :D

Thats because they only use 2 units! They have 7 units in total {at my last check}. In they run a 1 train service {which is one unit i think} and in the summer they run a 2 train service.
Its like all these times when they get voted most punctual, they only have 7 miles of track to worry about!

Hi

Even in Winter they use two sets (one unit each), and in summer, they double them up, so that 4 units are in use (two trains made up of two units). I think they can even have 3 different 'trains' in use at the same time.

Cool, shows how good CIGs are even after over 30 years. Not suprising though as their isn't a lot to go wrong with those old units, not like modern ones with loads of electronics. Not suprised MMLs HSTs are well down as they seem awful these days, and the worst seem to be the refurbished ones. Pacers do suprise me as those and the Sprinters seem pretty reliable. Wonder where the 101s came?
