I searched for raeurotrack0ex.sms and got loads of hits but after "refining" my search to raeurotrack0ex only 3 came up and they revealed the problem to be that I do not have Railwaves installed.

A quick Google search later and it is clear I need to buy this as well. Sounds like a good investment :D

Perhaps this needs to go in the readme file though ?
Kindest regards

Sounds like the ttype.dat SMS files and sounds for track sounds in the archive need to be changed back to the default one from Europe 1 or 2 (Railwaves should have created a backup in the root of Europe1 called ttype.old).

Can you run that by me again please ? :drinking:

I don't have Railwaves installed yet but the route is apparently calling for files related to it.

Are you saying I can simply copy the ttype.dat file from Europe 1 into the GWML folder and these messages will go away ? :drinking:

Yes Railwaves installs by replacing the default ttype.dat file in the particular route folder which then addresses the sms and sound files in the dedicated Railwaves folder.

An unfortunate by product of this though is that if you copy the config files from one of the default routes where the revised ttype.dat file is installed, it's going to generate error messages if you haven't got Railwaves on your system.

This is probably something the route author needs to address fairly urgently as the Railwaves EULA does state no part of their product may be re-distributed, although I'm sure on this occasion it is accidental. It's an easy trap to fall into unfortunately as when you first set up a route very few track or external sounds are set up and you need to copy them over from the other routes.

Maybe this is something Mike S. could look at Route Riter picking up to prevent Railwaves ttype.dat from slipping through?

I downloaded the route. Went and installed it, making sure to follow the instructions pretty carefully. I was surprised that the the .bat didn't take long to run. However, the route does not appear in my list of available routes!

Ideas?

You'd think I'd have thought of that...It's brilliant being a genius...OK, I'll try that. There were other paths there in the route, so I had assumed they'd be OK. But then I'd have to have the activity pack...

Right, that'll teach me to make stupid posts.

OK, tried doing that. Only problem is it says:

Failed to load track database.

Have I missed something obvious? I've added the folders someone else mentioned now, will have another attempt now to make an activity.

Hi

The error message is saying that it is missing the Railwaves Track Audio sms's. Simply copy over the ttype from a default route.

Thanks for the advice about Railwaves - did that and the error messages stopped.

I would like to thank XPTE for taking the time and effort to make the route and all the other people who beta tested the route for an early Christmas present. I have spent most of the day running the activities in the activity pack and running various consists in explore mode.

Sadly I have to visit the relatives tomorrow so I will not be able to carry on experimenting until Boxing day :(

Thanks to Easilyconfused and the others for the kind words about the route. Glad you're having fun with it. I'll be uploading further activities for the route over the coming weeks.

Oh yes, and as mentioned in the credits in the readme file, big thanks to Alan Salmon and Terry Cunliffe for their assistance in the route's creation.

Still a little early days as to whether I'll continue with the project yet. Maybe within the next 3 weeks I'll have to a decision once more feedback has come through, and I've taken note of the download count for the additional activities.

Thanks for pointing out the slight installation problems caused with the route too. Hopefully everyone who has downloaded it and also experienced those problems have found their way to this topic and easily resolved them. I've changed the auto-reply too so and included a link to this thread. I'll also have to re-download the route again, and fix those problems easily, and then re-upload it again.
