Looks like the Iraqi railways were british run in the 1930's

Some of their motive power still looks in better nick than some of what is crawling around the British rail network.

Yeah, they boil their chemicals in there. That's what its used for. It also can double up as a missile silo, and was one of Saddams escape locomotives. :D

Any notice that the Buffet car's missing?? Obviously still had a stash of BR Sarnies and Pies onboard. This has been well and truly hidden, and is now the basis of Iraq's Biological warfare regime....

No doubt it went walkabout during the War like so many of it's brothers.

That's the World War, second half, in case there's any confusion.

Obviously stayed for 'extra time'...

This is all the info I have so far... first quote...

Iraq Rly No 1429 - LMS No 8262 has
been discovered languishing in the undergrowth of Baghdad Station,
derelict and far from home with a good chance there are dozens more,
maybe hundreds. They went out there looking for "weapons of mass
destruction" and found a lovely old Stanier 8F - how appropriate !!!

Second quote by Andrew Grantham (from the iraqi railway website above - where I nabbed the image from...)

"By chance, I've just been sent a photo of it by someone with the
coalition authorities in Baghdad. He says it has been taken into
store "in order that it is protected pending a decision on what will
be done with it."
