Boy gets hit by train. (HST?)

Post by trainmad »

Hi all,
Just been watching the East Midlands news. First item was about a boy who decided that he was clever enough to go onto the lines (Midland Mainline,) and race the train. Now his friends are trying to warn others not to play on the railway line.

Anybody with common sence should now not to go onto railway lines in the first place.

Condolences to the boys family.

I can't remember exactly what he did, i was so angry! If can be bothered to learn trackside safety and know exactly what to do then why can some people just go ahead being stupid on railway lines? It's not on.

Now his parents will probably try to sue midland mainline...

Hmm, yeah I'd bet they will. Such a ridiculous thing to do (both racing the train and sueing MML). I assume he was racing it as in running on the line, trying to run at 125MPH...Fool.

Still, I extend condolences to the child's family.

The line speed is apparantly 100 mph there. Not exactly 125 mph, but even if the line speed was 5mph he should not go playing on railway lines!
Thats all there is to it.

I gathered it was less than 125MPH, but I was assuming. I don't know the east lines very well.

anyone found any online news reports, this sounds a bit fantiful to me. Not saying it didnt happen, but someone running along the track next to a train sounds incredible.

I thought u ment he was driving his car along the track, and got hit by a train coming the other way.

No thanks, I hate been asked by people in the street if ive had a accident, I love pretending to trip over a paving slab when I walk past. Now thats very off topic.

This lad shouldnt try racing a train and he got what was coming to him, let that be a lesson to him.

This is so true, when I was at Southampton General recently (for obvious reasons), there were even stacks of leaflets for personal injury lawyer firms. I wonder how much they pay the hospital to have tham there?

He might have watched "Superman"! I'm not sure which movie(maybe the first movie) but he ran beside the train and beat it. Since he was ahead of the train. He jumped across the crossing a few seconds before the train came! :o
