Not long to wait then hopefully rabid! You'll have guessed that I will be using UK Finescale for my routes. I'm starting work tomorrow on Central England (as my signature has now been saying for a few days). I'll be creating the tiles tomorrow (although I might do that today), with terraforming started within 7 days of tomorrow.

Good luck with your route Tim! I'm seriously looking forward to it!

Hitchin

Post by apeacock »

I have been in New Zealand since 1963, but spent my first 14 years in Hitchin and was a very keen trainspotter.
The ME is my favourite route for obvious reasons!
Things I would like to see are
The overbridge at the South end of Hitchin Station.
The line through Letchworth, Baldock etc to Cambridge
The branch line to Bedford, where a little tank engine and carriage ran in a push-pull configuration.

I would be happy to help if I can, but will need some guidance and resources to complement my memory

GWR, Great Western   Its abit far east
Only joking, i run all sorts of trains up and down Mid East. Its miles and miles of 4 track running, great for testing things

MidEast is an outstanding route even without UK Finescale track, so with UKFS...! It would take more than a few minutes though to convert most of the East Midlands

Next stage? Obviously, it's not my decision, but I'd like to see an extension out to Immingham (as suggested earlier) to run Immingham - Scunthorpe etc. freights - a pair of 37s on a heavy freight powering away from Wrawby Junction on the climb to Melton Ross...sorry, getting excited now!

Either way, it'll only make an excellent route (if it could be called that - network might be a better word :D) even better.

If I may post a public plea (I've chatted with Tim earlier about possible extensions) it would be for the 'new' MidEast to have a new name so that I could run both if I wanted. As for the electric guys, if I remember rightly, only the main line is electrified, eveything off to the sides is diesel. Set it in the 80s and you can still have plenty of speed with Deltics.

I am doing Bits and pieces in the background and will release the new version later, it will be a little different than before with a little "Modernisation, some of the fictional stuff will be gone and more non default stuff will be in.

Its taking a while but I fugured I have plenty of time wot do it and a route this large can't be worked overnight.

I have a few bits I want ot add myself too, again it will have those little extra's for the activity writes to play with too!

As soon as I have anything screenworthy I will post some screenshots, I will start off with the sad ones since there will be a couple of the fictional branches closing and also I will be removing some of the White elephants on the route which never got used.

I'll keep you posted!

OK - so I am one of those who haven't bought the MidEast cd - yet....

.....but it is one that I have been thinking of getting.

Is it worth buying the cd from UKTS at the moment, or should I wait for the update - ie is the update likely to be a download patch or whole new cd??

The route CD at present is only around £4.50 from CD Ordering on the UKTS front page. With that you get one month's premium membership to UKTS included...

Not knowing when the route will be updated, I'd leave it to you to decide whether you want to spend a fiver on one of the best routes for MSTS. Personally, I'd be more than happy to run it for a month and then get the next CD at that price.

As the new version is going to be (or is reported to be at least) a huge overhaul, I'd expect it to be a completely new CD.

Great that the route is still being worked on Tim, I was fearing the worst for it after hearing nothing - I assumed you worked with BlueArrow 'full time'.

Nope, I work for Raildriver full time - I work for BA in amy "Spare time" LOL

I do actually have time to do stuff on Mideast, If you do check back through varios posts I have made, Mideast has been and always will be freeware.

Took me a long time to build the route, I am not just going to walk away from it :)
