deltics no answer to any of my topics???????????

Post by delticd9000 »

hi all

so i take it with all my deltic news that no replies to i take it that no one likes deltics anymore here????????????

i know we have had alot of tours being caped , but its not the deltics thought

rember that some tours get caped due to a certain someone not getting paper work sorted in time for the deltic movement sorted..

but 2004 should be a great year for deltic fans

with D9000 now getting a overhaul repair to its generator
D9002 overhaul for mainline next year
D9009 only on 1 engine but should be complete
D9015 tulyar almost ready for mainline return next year
D9016 is ok for tour
D9019 R/H/F ready to go

i can see alot of good stuff for tour promoters..

a big hi goes out to steamyaffairs due to Mr timms not getting things sorted they lost out on alot of deltic hauled tours this year , plz dont have a go at them all they done was promote the tour , theynt responsible for the deltics no show...

so keep your chins up and see u on deltic tours next year all

I've never seen a deltic before. other than at the NRM. Seeing a loco in a museum just isn't the same somehow...

Oh what a sheltered life you have led! You really must try to go on one of English Electrics mighty beasties on a railtour sometime, You like 37's? You will love a deltic!

I've seen a deltic in action, I also have downloaded quite a few videos of Deltics in action onto my PC.

Have to say, I think they're absolutely amazing beasts, which could easily still be in service today, had the parts been easier to get hold of.

I don't know why they weren't cascaded onto freight and lower level passenger services when ousted by the HST

I was lucky enough to drive D9019 some years ago at the ELR and what an experiance that was! Notch 1 nothing, notch 2 nothing, notch 3 nothing, notch 4 and the engines just erupted and she shot forward like a bullet out of a gun. Amazing stuff!

where is the money

Post by deltic »

Where is the money coming from for D9000 genney to be repaired
Where is the money coming from for 55002 - The 5 year contract with D9000/NRM has now ended without a wheel turning
Where is the money coming from for 55016 - Needs the new train proctection system before it can haul any more trains and the other D9000 groups locos also needs this.
Where is the money coming from when NO D9000 group loco has pulled a train for six months ????????
Just keep your eye on the DPS locos they even have there own depot

Yes they have, D9016 has been used to move ECS ( for a steam special) from mid-hants to liverpool street & back, & also followd the special to act as thunderbird incase the kettle failed! That was within the last 6 months, was september I belive! Also I am pretty sure that D9016 is already fitted with TPWS, the only deltic so fitted? Why does a revenue earning trip have to be a railtour/special? :x

Slightly off-topic but I saw the prototype Detic leaving English Electrics Works, crossing Strand Road to climb up the Oil line to Preston station as a kid, I will always regret not having a camera at the time. :(

Something big and blue scared the . out of me on Bletchley station when I was about 4 years old. That would be about 1958.

Even today, there's something about it which I don't like :D

Proper Deltics were terrific. Leaving Kings Cross, what a sound :P

Standing by a silient one when the driver started her up could remove ear wax better than any syringe :o
