Railway book discussion forum
I think someone has allready bought this subject up, but would'nt it be a good idea to have a forum where we can talk about railway books that we've got.

Talking of books does anybody have the latest Platform 5 book on coaches and if they have, can you see if 2xMk1 FO coaches are mentioned. the numbers I am looking for are 3124 & 3127. At present they are part of the RCS set belonging to EWS based at Bounds Green. I believe they could be coming on the market for sale. Any info when they were built and if they have been refurbished would help.
Cheers.
Alan.

3124 & 3127
According to the Platform 5 2003 book:
Built at Swindon 62/63 Batch 30697
These are of the later design with fluorescent lighting, aluminium
window frames and commonwealth bogies.
Current livery - BR Southern Green
Current Owner - Rail Charter Services
Current Operation - Charters & Specials only
Current Allocation - Bounds Green
No mention in the book is made of any refurbishments being
carried out on any of these Mk1 FO's.

Hi Suffolk,
It was my suggestion that we have a book review forum or section :see "Book Reviews" Item 11 (right now) in the Site Admin Forum.
You may like to read this thread and one that started (not my intention) in the Loco Modeling Forum Item 6 (right now).
I won't rewrite my views here as I've aired them enough.
Like you I think it's a great idea and the sort of queries that your post has generated were just the sort of mutual help facility I thought it would provide. I've already had people post details of books in response to previous threads, for which I'm very greatful. Just got one from the States by post this week which is excellent.
I've not been back to Matt on this issue yet as the initial threads seemed to dry up, but your post and these above convince me that this is a valid idea.
I think that if Matt was prepared to do it we should have a site section where the reviews can be posted and a forum section where research or information requests such as those above could be posted.
This would keep all the building forums to concentrate on Building, software and technical issues and give a "one stop" forum for information requests. This way information sources that may be useful to a number of modelling forums could be by viewed by all interested parties at once.
I've now got a good few books that I consider to be extremely useful and interesting to any Train Sim fans and it's only pressure on my time that has delayed my writing a sample review to submit to Matt to see if he thinks such reviews would warrant a section on the UKTS web site. It's high on my "to do" list, lower on the families!!!!
