I know it aint totally relevent, but Voyagers cant compare to HSTs. I had travelled on one last week, there was no leg room, flickering lights and a rattling heater!

It's an early Voyager, which are made by Bombardier. The Pendolinos were/are made by Alstom.

Like you get in 168s and MK2 1st Class Airline seats?

And there are "proper" tables in them.

Mk2s don't have airline seats at all, other than the high density standard class ones that Anglia use as B and C coaches in their push pull sets (converted from TFOs), even the Mk3s don't have airline seats in first class. I've only been on a Voyager 4 times (technically once, as the others were Super Voyagers) and didn't like them at all. The engines are very noisy and cause fittings to rattle at certain rpms, they have uncomfortable seats that are so high and wide it is hard to see over them, the windows are badly layed out in respect to seats, the short passenger compartment gives a very claustrophobic feel, and everyone I have been on has smelled. Luckely I've only travelled quite short distances (Derby and Leicester to Birmingham and a short trip on the SVR at last years Diesel Gala) and travelled at weekends so havn't experianced the overcrowding. I've not been one a Pendolino yet and am not looking forward to it.
