could we in theory have a "super route"

Post by Hymek »

Ive just had an idea for a super route, and i was wondering if in theory it could work, We can currentley just about run from Kings Cross to liverpool by stopping and changing routes, and it would be amazing if it could be in one, it would involve merging

Mideast UK, Woodhead, caldervale, North Western, Merseyrail and warrington

Im not implying that someone should do it, it is just an idea afterall

It's a nice idea - I think we could do something similar around Bristol too...

To run a super route you'll need a super computer!

Route merging is theoretically possible if what I've read on these forums is true (Look in the route builders forum first if you want to find some info on this)

Technically yes AFAIK, but to do one tile is a major job, to do an entire route would be a major task!!!

Four tiles from MidEastUK (Shireoaks & Worksop) copied and merged into my as yet unfinished Woodhead 2.5 was enough for me. Sadly without some serious 'tool' help, a full route merge is not on!

In answer to the thread question, yes, and it would be called GER Main Line 1980, Liverpool Street To Harwich. :D :D :D

The ultimate dream would be to create one HUGE route right across the country...

I reckon it could be done, but you'd need a big-ish team to work on it.

What we need is temporary joining routes from the last station on one route to the first station on another.

Acurate track geography and gradients but just basic scenery.

This would allow multi part activities.

No I haven't! (Merged routes that is). I believe it is possible but requires some quite technical work.

I agree, Best way of doing things, as large activities over the whole country would probably not work on most computers. Besdides many routes are in different eras anyway.

But the Island Line and that preserved railway there would be totally seperated! Unless you're going to make an underwater link... :o

I think the Americans have a train ferry.

I think it works as a wagon which the loco pushes on hidden tracks.
