Why do people have to ruin a good thing in such a way?

OMG! OMFG! Sick people!!! How can the world contend with minds like that? I hope they get caught and charged with something along the lines of attempted man-slaughter. Then shoot them!

I thought man-slaughter, was where u killed someone but didnt mean too. Cutting through a security fence, and pushing a car onto a railway where trains knowingly do 180Mph, is attemtped murder.
Especially after the Selby crash, there is no way you can claim u werent aware of the consequences of purposely placing such an obstacle on a high speed railway line.
They set out to kill, there doubt about it.

I doubt they could claim manslughter - their defence in court would be something like
'Yeah, well we accidentally cut the padlock on the gate, the drove the car into the rail vicinity, then we got out to do a bbit of legitimate spotting, we turned our back and it ws gone! We ran away to find a phone to alert someone! Honest!'
Somehow I doubt it...

Say the passenger capacity of a Eurostar was X.
Those who did this act would face charges for X counts of attempted murder (Maybe 2X if you consider two Eurostars being involved), Plus maybe some charges under the terrorism act.
The guy who caused the Selby disaster did so unintentionally and went to prison for it, These people are facing a very long sentence if caught and convicted.

I think, had it been successful, this outrage would have been classed as terrorism.
In fact I'm surprised nobody has suggested this yet.

ForburyLion mentioned terrorism in his post above yours...

Although chances are all they will get done for is vandalism along with what ever else they did on their way through the gate.

"attempted man-slaughter" - that is not possible. As others have rightly said, manslaughter is basically unintentional killing. Attempted accidental killing...? I am guessing that this was a warning - if they pushed it that far, why did they not go further? Thank goodness they didn't.

Don't worry folks, if they get caught I expect the average age of them will be about 15, and your freindly local "do gooder" will claim that they stole the car because of a lack of social facilities, and one of them came from a broken home, another is a registered druggie who forgot to go to the doctor to get his dose of methodon and they didn't know there was a railway line at the bottom of the embankment, and no doubt some out of touch with reality judge will dish a few hours community service, with some free driving lessons thrown in for good measure.
