ConBuilder and Cabview Files

A two part query:
1. Is my memory correct that I have used the check stock feature of ConBuilder to check that the .ace files used in a .cvf file are present?
2. If "yes" could someone who has the latest version of ConBuilder (1.7.0) check whether this version is doing this.

Hmmm, you're right, this does seem to be broken.
It certainly used to work, but having renamed the main cabview ace in one of my folders, it does not show up as an error.

I installed the 1.70 upgrade...but have switched back to using my original 1.49 as MSTS stopped recognising any new consists written
Also when I switched back...3 items of stock were immediately
reported with errors....which 1.70 had not.
I proberbly dont use all Conbuilders features to the full....but I didn't actually find any benefits from 1.70

Just the same test as I did. The .ace files are also not listed in the scrolling windows of files being checked (the .cvf file is) Now where can I find the previous version?!

I uploaded it here - look under my name, or if you find 1.70 look under related files.
I have used the "multiple wagons" feature to create long freight trains, and I have not had trouble with consists it has created - but I hadn't realised until now that the check was broken so I will probably revert too - and search t-s.com to see if anyone else has found this - it would be better in the long term to alert the author(s) than to just downgrade

I have.
I also pointed out that it does not check the shape files in freight animation entries.

Version 1.7.1 is now available at
http://www.geocities.com/conbuilder which seems to have the problem resolved.

Yes but 1.7.1 now throws up errors if the names inside the .eng file are not in the sane case as the name of the file. For example, it give an error if the name of the file is GP38.eng and the line in the file is Wagon ( gp38
As far as I can tell MSTS doesn't care about the case so why bother flagging it as an error???

Personally, I find it a PITA that conbuilder complains about missing quotes on the sound (xxx.sms) lines when they are not needed
Anyway, I have uploaded the V1.7.1 update here for anyone who wants it.

Latimers - It is the the first one that can be different in an eng file. The the othere engne and wagon line are not EXACTLY the same as the filename, MSTS crashes. IMHO, it is not that hard for a skinner to ttake a few minutes and make sure all this is correct befoer uploading the skin. After all the hours and work put into the model, why screw it up? It has got to the point that I will not use some skinners work in my activities.

Kevin,
I'm not sure I agree with you but perhaps we're talking about different things.
I agree that if the name of the file and the Wagon line in the file don't use the same letters (e.g. gp38.eng and Wagon ( gp39 ), MSTS crashes. However, if the cases of the letters are not the same (e.g. gp38 and GP38), I don't think MSTS cares. I have had several locos that MSTS has quite happily run before but are being flagged as errors by ConBuilder 1.7.1 because the case of the letters is different.
Regards,
Bob.

It is for me. If there are no quotes, it would be totally quiet, depending on whether it is the cab missing the quotes or exterior missing it. All I hear is track sounds.
