LONDON SOUTHAMPTON "EASTLEIGH BUG"

I think I have found the solution for MSTS freezing when AI or player trains go north through Eastleigh. I havn't got a clue why, but it seems to work, delete all north bound signals at the end of Eastleigh station and save changes. Go back into to route editor and replace them, after try a test in activity editor (verify starting state etc....) and all seems ok.
thankyou

Thankyou! I'll add that to the list of changes

Well impressed with this ..........
One small thing, i know you arnet modelling any station buildings but could you manage to put signs on the stations? Maybe as an addon?
cheers

Yes, I'm intending to do this eventually (if you look at the nameboard.ace texture in the textures folder you will see progress

Erm, I'm afraid it's beginning to look like another serious problem for jpp2Southampton.
I'm starting to write an activity, but find if I try to create an up service from branch lines, the program freezes when the designated train reaches the main line up to Waterloo.
So far I've tried a couple of branch lines, so maybe the problem isn't global on this route.
Do any of you route building experts know of such a potential problem ?
Obviously if this IS a global problem, it's a show-stopper.
Incidentally, could anyone tell me what the typical rolling stock should be for an activity for this line in the apparent era in which it is set ? Thanks.

This is another error that is new to me. Does this happen using the supplied paths, or when you create new ones?
As for trains, I'll put a list into the more general topic...

Both the supplied paths & newly created ones, I think.
I also had a problem in Explore route when starting from Basingstoke going up - the program freezes the moment you start to move.
I think the help of MSTS signalling experts is badly needed.
Sorry to be bearer of possibly bad news, but think the route (which I know very well) is tremendous & has terrific possibilities for activity writers.
Thanks for typical stock guidance - saw it on the other (v. long !) thread.

I'm afraid I've found another one.
The path Woking to W'loo also allows a service to be created using it & specified train appears as planned at platform 3. Signals appear fine, points appear to be OK & the train moves off after its initial planned stop but the program crashes (freezes) just AFTER the train has moved on to the main line.
So far it appears that at least all the up branches are unusable, time will tell on the down branches.
For some reason, NONE of this main line seems to like having a train join it from a branch. Well, no, that's not quite true. I've got up services from the Salisbury line to work OK. Still, you could say that that "branch" is actually part of the main line.
Come on, you experts - what's the problem ?

Well, this is all very curious.
After a few more days of experimenting, the above problem has just disappeared. The path works fine, now. Gawd knows why.
The only changes I've made to the route are to replace the up Eastleigh platform starter signals (as described elsewhere and which would hardly seem to be involved with the Woking up path problem)), and to change the route's properties from metric to Imperial (this was so that miles would be displayed in the "Next Station" window instead of km).
So maybe making a minor change & then resaving the route also corrects some sort of error, en passant, so to speak.
Strange thing, this MSTS ...........

I can confirm I also have experienced a problem when test running my activity. Yesterday I set up an activity, I set up all the main Class 442 services and 2 Virgin services, plus I also set up just 2 suburban services running from Clapham Junction to Surbiton. At this stage I tested it to see how the activity ran. But upon leaving Waterloo, I was only a few minutes into the journey and just after Vauxhall station and approaching that big depot place(can't remember what its called) MSTS froze and the only thing I could do was reset my PC.
This is a SUPERB route. I hope these bugs with the route though can eventually be solved.

Big depot place? Stewarts lane, Clapham, Wimbledon?

Yes, it was that depot place just after Vauxhall. It's Stewart's Lane depot.
