Forth and Clyde Junction Railway

Post by divydave31 »

I have just realised (after being in the Haldane near Balloch for nearly two months) that there is an old disused railway at the back of where i live, there really is nothing left of it, apart from the odd small embankment.

The railway in question is the old Forth and Clyde Junction Railway, that cut off at Balloch and went to Stirling through Balfron.

Is there anyone out there that can help me find more details on this railway and its history, and if possible a ordinance survay map which will have this railway on.

It survived up untill that lovely :-? MR or DR Beaching wealded his big axe.

Thanks very much in advance

Try a search in Google for "Forth and Clyde Junction Railway". It gives several results.

Tell me about it, but he did, or rather his cronnies did.

There must be someone in this furum that knows about this railway, how about all you Scottish people in this forum.

Must have been quite an attractive wee bit up there it went through. I'm always amazed at the number of railways up that way on railscot.co.uk.
