1V93, 11.25 Edinburgh-Plymouth throughout on Sun 9th Aug 1981.

47420 Edinburgh to York (205 mls) & 47462 York to Plymouth ( 342.5 mls)

or for real engines 8)

1E40, 19.15 Aberdeen - Kings Cross throughout,
Sat. 4th July 1981.

Aberdeen to Edinburgh 27010 (132.5 mls) & Edinburgh to KX, via Stockton & Hertford North, 55016 (397 mls).

Polegate - Haywards Heath
Haywards Heath - Kings Cross Thameslink (failed for an hour on the ramp between Bridge and Blackfriars)
Kings Cross - Leeds
Leeds - Settle - Carlisle (on a pacer)
Carlisle - London Euston
Euston - London Victoria
London Victoria - Polegate.

Left at 05:15am and got home at 2:10am the next morning. 19 hours and 55 minutes.

Outside the UK..
France: Boulogne - Calais in 35 minutes
Spain: Palma - Soliér (Majorca) and back in 5 hours.
Edmund Copping - A UKTS forum veteran.
The light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.

I've been on the Mallorca railway too - Inca - Palma though. Took about an hour one way, would have taken less but there were delays due to single track working on some parts.

Also travelled between Livorno and Pisa in Italy, took 15 minutes, which saves half an hour over going by road!

Los Angeles to Dallas on the Texas Eagle - two and a half days :D

Across the New Mexico desert, there was snow on the cactii 8)
