Class 210 demu's.

No reason. Just said that to be deliberately controversial and obscure.

Actually, always liked the old Derby Lightweights that ran down the Cumbrian coast. There was something very chilled about them - sort of like a rail-borne equivalent of Dylon the rabbit from Magic Roundabout.

The class 124 DMUs - they were the well-known canine dangling bits. They were completely different inside to any other first-generation DMU with compartments in part of the unit (first class only? - memory plays tricks), loads of wood trim and they went like a rocket. Such a shame none were preserved - stuffed full of asbestos unfortunately. :(

I can't post a photo as I haven't asked the relevant webmaster for permission, but there's a picture of one at http://www.therailwaycentre.com/Pages%2 ... U_124.html in blue and grey.

Tim, you're doing an updated version? Christmas has come early! God bless uploaders, thank you all.

Never saw a 124 .... very handsome in green ....

Favourites .... M79900 and M79901 .... Derby single units .... worked from new from Bletchley to Buckingham and Banbury ....

The latter became Derby Research Centre Test Car 'Iris' ....

Favourite DMU?
158s/159s (400hp-engined only) are alright.
170s - pretty good.
175s - not bad, maybe I just don't like them (it's FNW after all).
Sprinters (all types) - not good.
Voyagers - not good either.

But the favourite?
Class 253 - now you're talking!

None really, but if I had to pick it would be a 170 Turbostar.

Or when the train misses stops and is then announcing you arriving at Manchester Ocford Road when you are at Preston because they missed all the stops between Heald Green and Piccadilly :)

but 175s and 156s have to be my favourites.
