Would you rather live in a different part of the country....
....so that you could travel on different trains to what you get in your region?
I would. Here in the West Country we just get HST's, Sprinter's, 142/143's(aaaarrgghh!!), Voyager's, and Class 180 Adelente's(STILL not had a go one of these yet).
I would rather live somewhere on the London Waterloo-Southampton line, London Victoria-Portsmouth Harbour line or any other line on the Southern region which still makes use of the superb 1st generation EMU 'Thumper' units. If I wanted to travel on one of these now, it would involve a rather expensive day out.

No, not really. There is still (relatively) a large variety of rolling stock in the Manchester area, ranging from different DMUs (101, 142, 150-158, 170 and 175) the Class 323 EMUs plus different electric and diesel locos as well (47, 57, 60, 66, 86, 87, 90 and 92). Throw in the HSTs, Voyagers and Pendalino then you've got a wide variety of interesting traction. No, I would'nt like to move at all.

I live in Essex. Parts of which resemble the Devils arse. The trains are bloody awful (321 mania). Mind you the 86s and 90s are a treat. As are the odd 47 and 57s, oh and 66s. And 37s on infrastructure trains. And a few 312s left (get em while you can.
I'd still rather live in rural NE Essex than Wales.
