Train Simulator won't load anymore after renew installation.

Post by edko01 »

After deinstalling MSTS I installed it again. That process went as normal. When starting running the program the folowing happened: After the intro and the KUJU logo the program loads but for only a few secondsa. It never finishes loading. After that my screen gets black and then my normal desktop appears and MSTS has disappeared from my screen. I tried starting several times, but the same problem keeps happening.I have many add-ons on my system, which so far never caused any major problems. I also downloaded the latest version of DirectX. I rebooted my sysytem various times, did a system clean-up. Unfortunattely MSTS still doesn't work. Anyone who can help me here? Thanking you in anticipation.

Double click mprofile.exe from within your msts dir.
Also run msts as a virgin install ,without all the rubbish you normally have installed,to see if any of it is the cause of your problem.

I've had major problems with MSTS stability recently. IKB is right, try re-installing without your additional routes first, make sure the core program isn't corrupted, then one by one re install your add-ons, starting with routes. A tedious pain, but the only sure-fire way of making sure you haven't got a conflict with a new add-on, as in fact I had.

MSTS is a very nervous program that will faint with an attack of the vapours at the drop of a hat, so let's hope MSTS2 is a bit more robust.

A quicker way is to add half your additional routes, if that works, then you know the problem is in the other half, then add half again, until you narrow it down to the bad one.

Same applies to rolling stock.

I'm not arguing (just explaining why I'm right).

Much good advice is given above and should be tried first. If it fails it's worth uninstalling again and making sure the entries in the Registry have been deleted.

To check this type regedit at the run prompt and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator. Right click on Train Simulator and select delete and then reboot before re-installing. It is best to export your registry first in case you make a mistake.

Remember also to rename your existing Train Simulator Directory to something else so you have that 'virgin' re-install too!

Hope you can solve the problem. Good luck.

If you reinstall MTS with third party routes still in place, the install will in any event remove the terrain detail from those routes, leaving white tiles. So if you're building a route and need to reinstall the sim, back it up first!

Oh, that's what happened to me then. :(

I had to restore a back-up after I moved my install to another Drive. It removed all the terrain tiles from my own route :'(
