Ok I have worked out that a weekday in the second week of my Visit to the UK is really not possible so here is the scoop!

Iam in the UK from June 30th till July 10th

I will be at the NRM for most of the day on 5th July (Saturday), I will also be making the jorney by Train from peterborough so will put my faith in GNER to get me ther eon time , I am shooting to be there in the morning.

I will be Visiting Matt (If he can fit me in!) and have a few other engagements.

Finally I will be at the Severn Valley Railway at some point but will also let you know when that is happening, although that may be a weekday visit.


I hope this helps , it would be good to meet some of you, I'll be offline as of Sunday morning since I will be leaving then, anyone planning on meeting at the NRM let me know before sunday and we can arrange to meet somewhere, bearing in mind I last went there in 1980.

Whats on at NRM then? I am up for another trip up there, maybe this time we can get past hitchen without me putting on my red cap and putting my underpants on over my trousers

Unfortunately both Robin Gray, the IT chap at the NRM, and myself will be out of the country so will be unable to meet and greet you Tim and the millions who will try and get to the museum to see you.

I visited the NRM last week and was amazed at how much bigger (~3x??) it is now compared to the 80s - so plan your day carefully, Tim.
It's rather jumbled in places, with some hidden treasures (don't miss the storage part of the workshop where many of the small bit 'n' bobs are). The emphasis is on "popularising" locos and trains - especially to kids. It would be nice to have different levels of info dependent on one's own level of knowledge, but I think you're supposed to ask if you want specifics (info desk was closed when I wanted those ).

Great for steam history (especially LNER), OK for diesels (a few are "camping" in a tent outside ) and "Electra" speaks for UK 'leccies. Some excellent short B&W films running in converted crates scattered around too - would be nice to have a list of these. Have fun.

I will bear that in mind.

Nothing special on that I am aware of but just having a wander round, goin gby train so beer is also an option!

Along with a fair bit of photography too!

Aye, good luck with the GNER journey.

No severe permanent delays at the moment, I'll be watching the computer screens on saturday to check on progress!

Tim, another one who will not be able to Visit NRM on the 5th July.

Me and my dad have prior arrangements for that date.

So I will try to get to the SVR. Hmm, weekday. I feel Ill. :-X

Why wish him luck on GNER? it's First Great Western you have to watch out for as thier drivers are colour blind.

Tim, GNER is good, there are TSR's dotted about between Kings Cross and Peterborough, try get a windon seat and you can see where you went wrong on your route lol joking.

Is your trip timed, by any chance, to coincide with the imminent launch of the magnificent Severn Valley Railway?

No but I will be at the SVR on the 8th (Hope mike doesnt mind me mentioning it) I have some stuff to do in the morning but after that I intend to go for a run up the route.
