That maybe a scam but what is true about all our stock that drops the toilet contents on to the track and has been proved, door handles outside the train have traces of urine on them and all sorts of other nasties that may be flushed down the toilet, makes you wonder :-?

Have you a scientific reference? or any idea of how it is?

e.g.

McAnaw HE, NDT&E INT 36 (3): 169-179 APR 2003

"Searing summer temperatures can make a journey on the London Underground a miserable experience, Neil Wilks talks to an engineer who is examining a variety of solutions aimed at cooling commuters."

I can't however find paper containing "London underground" and health or seat or stuff like that. (And btw you need a valid Athens account to search.) Sounds like a bit of an urban myth.

Maybe, but I've also seen bits like it in the GCSE science books at school for case studies (a project for GCSE)... I dont think they'd print an urban myth!

Ere guys, i think me and Dave can tell you some of it is true, in a lesser extent going by some of the things i've seen, and there for Dave most probably has seen aswell.
The worst case, and this makes me angry, is a women sat down on a SWT slam door train, normal seat, and felt a prick. She stood up, and discovered she had sat on a used needle  .

Steve,

Did you know that a cleaner at Streatham hill depot was diagnosed with HIV from being stuck by a needle down the side of the seat cushion, also at Brighton we have had to Isolate a whole unit on more than one occasion due to infestation with fleas and get the pest blokes in :(

As for No4 traction motor, I need say no more Steve.

I also know of a case where some sicko on the SW Division was sticking chewing gum to the bottom of ashtrays in Vep/Cig style stock, with razor blades embedded in it so when cleaners went to grab the contents out, they suffered severe lascerations - at least three seperate people at Basingstoke (Barton Mill) and Eastleigh, within 3 days...

Mostly it's Thatcher's (ptoo ptoo) selling off for posh housing all those large Victorian hospitals and allowing the patients to roam around the streets at will under the guise of "care in the community". Yet another great selfish Tory (ptoo ptoo) failing.
