I'd prob be up for it. Piccadilly would be the easiest place for everyone to reach I reckon.

Nah, Preston would be easiest :P

hmm id prefer Preston to Manchester :) i can wear my rovers shirt without getting shot in the knee caps!!!
Well thats four of us, thats enough for a meet and a trek around :)

Anyone got a preferable date? Should we say mid july so college is over for people? im off uni now so doesnt matter to me :)
Just as a random suggestion as a route trek (i havent totted up prices but i doubt itll be more that 25quid in total with a railcard) ...
Piccadilly to Crewe, Crewe to Liverpool, Liverpool to either back to Manchester, OR to Preston and back via Chorley and Bolton?

Manchester Piccadilly TO Crewe 11:06 12:00 Train First North Western
This is the First North Western service to Crewe. Runs Monday to Friday.
- £8.25 not discounted £5.45 - with Railcard - Class 323

Crewe TO Liverpool Lime Street 12:44 13:30 Train Central Trains
This is the Central Trains service to Liverpool Lime Street. Runs Monday to Friday. - £6.70 non discounted, £4.45 with railcard - likely to be class 156 (on a bad day), 158 or 170.

Liverpool Lime Street TO Preston (Lancashire) 14:32 15:30 Train First North Western
This is the First North Western service to Barrow-In-Furness. Runs Monday to Friday.
non discounted - £7.40, with a rail card £4.90. - no idea what unit! Probably a 15x sprinter.

Preston (Lancashire) TO Manchester Oxford Road (goes to piccadilly)16:12 16:54 Train T First North Western
This is the First North Western service to Manchester Airport. Runs Monday to Friday. non discounted - £6.80, with a rail card £4.50. - normally a Class 175 unless it breaks :)

OR

Liverpool Lime Street TO Manchester Oxford Road (goes to Piccadilly too)14:22 15:07 Train 1T ARRIVA Trains Northern
This is the ARRIVA Trains Northern service to Sunderland. Runs Monday to Friday.
non discounted - £7.50, with a rail card £4.95. - class 158

TOTAL (skipping Preston) - £22.45, WITH a railcard - £14.85.

TOTAL (via Preston, Chorley and Bolton) - £29.15, WITH a railcard - £19.30.

They are just some times ive quickly searched on qjump. By no means do we have to do those and get those trains :) I think we could spend a lot more time at Crewe, so much passes through im sure there'll be plenty to look at!
We can juggle the timings around too so we can experiance some WCML or XC traction somewere along the line im sure.
Going back VIA Preston has two advatages, its easier for Martin and me to get home :) and also it gives us another busy station to poke around hehe!

As i said, this is just to give a feel for prices and timings :)

In fact it might be better value to get a NW rover, that way we could go north to Carlise or Barrow then maybe to Leeds (ill have a check in the Rover Round up in Rail) therefore taking in plenty of sites over a couple of days! ( i mean come on are we really gonna be busy in the summer hols!!!)
Ill get back about the rovers :)

Cheers

If we are not a student we will be! I am not a student but would love to meet up. would be quite daunting I guess but I'd be up for it (work dependant of course)
