As mentioned MidEast dated ?...my opinion nah still great.

Faves...

Eagerly awaiting that Stoke Division Route...looks very promising

This week my favourite route is Stadtbahn U79. It is absolutely stunning, really raising the bar as far as route building is concerned. However, I will probably get bored with just driving trams and so my favourite route next week may well include some freight opportunities. I am looking forward to the new New Zealand route that should be available soon, it looks remarkable too.

Ruabon to Barmouth .... no hesitation ....

I can 'feel the lurv' that went into it.

For me, accurracy, I've no idea how accurrate it is, matters little with a diverse and interesting route made by someone who has obviously put a lot of themselves into it.

A route, like nothing else in trainsim, really can be a work of art.

It can be a Turner or in my case, Piccasso :D

Not even I have only Woodhead installed! (new machine has WH2.2, MEUK and SVR - WH2.5 & ELR continue on old machine) If anyone were to do the MSJ&A or London to Shenfield then we'd have somewhere else to run 1500VDC stuff.

This is the big difference between MSTS and Trainz. With MSTS you can have have real routes (If you have the skill and the time), no so easy on Trainz, but then anyone can create a layout on Trainz.
I only install finished routes, not interested in betas with no scenery, with this in mind only one route stands out a mile, the king of routes, by the king of route builders:
MID east

Correction: London Liverpool Street to Chelmsford & Southend Victoria.

My favourite route is still Modern England. I haven't played anything on S+C for ages, because the default is bad (I have no time for the other version right now)...NEC v4 (and the default one) are the other two in my top 3 right now.

When it's done, my favourite route will be FGW Hereford - London Paddington (still not sure about the name of the route yet...). Progress is due to start dead soon (I've just gotta figure out why my graphics card is seemingly not giving me a display and I can install MSTS again!
Project H2P status: Currently awaiting software to fix PC problems. Got a start on .mkr file, hoping to continue that soon. Wprk should re-commence very soon.

When I say favourite route, it's one I can trundle or belt along in explore mode.

Even with a 60Gb HD, keeping a lot of stock for activities is not realistic for the amount of time spent using them.

I'm wary of keeping each route and it's stock on CD's and switching them frequently. It takes time as well.

I don't really agree with 'favourite route' threads as I'm aware of how much time and effort goes into them. I've high praise for anyone that does them freeware.

It's the GWR for me though :D

I have:
the defaults
Modern England,
FUDE,
ECML 3.1 (with hiccups - waiting for the MidEast CD to swim the Atlantic),
SeaView 4 (just installed - wacky, but fun),
Carlisle NorthEast (stored, no longer interesting),
Bear Mountain Pass (still trying to figure out the ghost trains),
Valley Line (installed yesterday),

GNER East Coast not installed yet,
and a Swiss route that won't install, and it's site is dead....

Going to get Manningtree today.

What I would like to see:
the Liverpool Street lines, to Southend, Chelmsford, Enfield, Chingford and Norwich (thank you Zackybong for the correction) - in fact anything GER beyond just the Manningtree branch, with Clauds, J69s, J15s, and Holden's lovely 7ft 2-4-0s...
Fenchurch St - Southend,
North Nondon line,
Nottingham Midland to appear on a route (would be interesting movements with the reverse of everything mainline),
The GCR line through Nottingham,
Iowa Chicago and Eastern - yeah, I know it's not UK, but it's a nice active little shortline along the Mississippi valley...

And instant programming ability so I could write any or all of the above routes, and modelling ability so I could design all the missing stock....

Favourite? it's a tossup between the FUDE and Modern England right now, but when the MidEast CD gets here, who knows?

You don't need programming ability to be able to do your route. You need time and patience. All you need to do is learn the editing tools. Print off the manuals and dive in. Start with a 1 tile route.

Oh and get yourself a coffee machine, 20 fags, a crate of beer and a set of headphones. Plus if you're married you'd better treat the wife too !!!
