That's right, twenty past six, when Mrs Miggins Pie Shoppe was just opening up on Abbatoir Lane for a nice plate of black puddin and faggots. Mmmm.....

'Course in those days our pocket watches only went up to 12.

Hi all,

the routes I have installed at the moment are:

Ffestiniog Beta - which I use mainly for testing ng stuff on long runs. It needs a lot more work at the upper ends, but is looking truly excellent.

Barmouth et alia - which is excellent, but a framerate killer

Joe Spinella's La Perouse tramline - which will shortly be removed

My own 'Resolution dock' which I've stopped work on, until I see what MSTS2 can do - but still use to test TSNG stuff.

I cycle Cannock chase and Woodhead through occasionally - and suspect CC will replace Ruabon-Barmouth in the next few days.

My all time favourites would have to be S&C 1930 and ME1.3 - but they are looking a bit dated now. I'm hanging out for Skipton.

Cheers

It is a matter of deciding what you like. My route folder is in a constant state of flux. As an activity designer I have loaded a lot of routes. Quite a few get deleted not soon afterwards. I am not big on explore route. I like to have a reason for running the route so most get opened in the AE before I even try to run them. I want to see if activities can be created for it. The key to that is signalling. I installed two routes in the last couple of weeks that got deleted within hours due to problems with signalling. ( I did email the designers with my findings)

Another problem with me is that if I have to many routes installed I bounce from route to route trying out activites and accomplishing nothing. so I try to keep it lean. NOw if I could only do that with the trainset folder. :)

I have kept one route, Sandpatch, on since the day it came out. I am very comfortable with it and it is always nice to have one like that to go back to.

If the main consideration is to cut disc space, have you tried route riter, I use this on my favourite routes, about 20, to cut down unneccessary disc usage, I also use route control from http://www.howintheworld.com , this stores all the routes I have become jaded with, currently 58 in all, these only use the default files once for all the routes, although you can only load one at a time, this is usefull as the route is still there when you feel like giving it another try, usefull for a route you only wish to use occassionaly.
and saves me about 25 gigabytes of space.
my current favourites are USA -East Metro, European -Albula, and British,
Ruabon Bala Barmouth, Mid East and FUDE.

I've just spent the last 10hrs exploring Sea View. Its amazing.

Lots of sidings and industry for the activity writers too if you want to take it seriously.

How many routes!

Post by bertie1 »

Only 2, FUDE trafficked out to the max on heavy timetables, great overhauling, lot's of smoke, noise and signal pressure. Good sheds except the doors are always closed and turntable doesn't work. Brendham sheds are better. Designer should be employed by MSTS for his attention to detail and operation layout.

MERSEY for the E'series and max traffic with great but heavy scenery. The GWV is a shame but have to clicksave and reload activity fixes it. Funny there isn't a little software proggie to fix that (hint, hint). Don't know if the designer is going to expand this later but there's heaps of room.

Only two because knowing the route confidently makes operation and activity creation easier and less frustrating "send, don't send" etc heh heh!

Loading a new route is like trying out a new car!
