forest.dat and Speedpost.dat
Do .ace, .s and .sd files refered to in the "forest.dat" file but missing from the textures and shapes folders of the route effect anything? It also seems that Route Riter does not list them as missing.

Forests only need .ACE file, but that .ACE file needs to be copied to all seasons' subfolders.

Hi David, dforrest wrote:What happens if all of the .ace file are not present in even the textures folder? This is the sittuation with the Fife route.
Only those forest items actually used by the route are checked by MSTS. The Forests.dat is only used by the Route Editor - Once you install a forest from the RE it appears as an item in the World .W file. This entry in the .W file lists the .ace file in use. Forest items default to an ESD entry of 252 - i.e. Seasonal textures.
You can run the route without the Forests.dat file to prove it is not used in MSTS.

I'm not arguing (just explaining why I'm right).
