Cool! 8) Not bad for guess-work eh?

This proves the old maxim "two heads are better than one." Or in this case about a half a dozen! ;)

I have now seen myself the problem with the original gates - got the activity pack from trainsimulator world (I think, the people who did the lms pack and are doing cambrain coast) and had my first drive on the default s&c route - the crossing gates were sticking into the fields!!

How on earth could a mistake of that magnitude get through all the beta testing; and not even get corrected in the 1.2 update?

Veering off topic slightly, is there an easy way to adjust the point at which oncoming trains trigger the closing of crossing gates? The signalmen on the Ruabon-Barmouth route leave it far too late for my liking and sooner or later there's going to be a nasty accident......

I believe each crossing gate has a setting that controls this. You'd need to go into the route editor and alter each one (and I think each gate is a separate crossing object, so you do them all separately!)

You can please some of the .........

Hi Longbow

Had quite a few requests after Ruabon Bala was released to reduce the gate opening/warning sequence as you never saw them operate ( set at defaults) . Got no requests to leave them as they where :)

You will have to modify each gate individually as there are no global settings (that I am aware of). Highlight the orange square then right click then select Levelcrossing tab (I think). There are 4 settings for each gate and they work on the principle of speed/time/distance. I.E the faster you are travelling the earlier they open.

At the moment they are set as follows I think

Activation Level Crossing Early 15 Default = 30 I think

Minimum Activation Distance 20 Default = 60

Initial Warning Phase 15 Default = 30

More Serious Warning Phase 30 Default = 60

Best to check the defaults in another route preferably the S & C

I might conduct a poll and see if the consensus is for longer times and I will change them in the Blaenau release

Thanks Gordon. I prefer realistic opening times but as you say it's a matter of taste.

It's a great route by the way. I'm hugely impressed at how closely the sim matches old photos of the line, right down to those fish shapes in the Cambrian Railway canopy at Dolgellau.

Because no-one drives the default routes anymore?

Oh no! Not another rivet counter . Seriously, thanks for the nice comments Longbow, always appreciated, even negative ones can help.

See you are in Singapore. The better half and I had a great stopover there last year. Fantastic place.
