NWE v3 Hazel Grove Line

Working on a scenario for the North West England route and would appreciate knowing back in the early to mid 1980's was the line from Manchester to Hazel Grove diesel (class 101 railccars) or was it one of the electric suburban routes (class 303).

Before everyone jumps up and down and rants about using different stock on a route that it wasn't intended for, I know the NWE package has a Hazel Grove activity, but uses a class 180, which is far too modern for what I want...these didn't exist when I was there in that time period of 1982 to 1989.

I think that 304's were used... especially for the through trains to / from Altrincham from the late sixties to the late eighties.
Not 100% certain though.

Thanks Terry...............I long forgot since I was in Manchester a few afternoon rush hours shooting train consists (Kodachriome 64 was cheap in NY then).............which was some 30 years ago now (whew!!)..........as to what the Hazel Grove trains were.

...but seems like 304's might be it......I know there were also similar 303's shifted from Scotland to Longsight around that time.............

naturally everything got ruined with the "break up" and all these freaky color schemes and wacky looking modern cars (the Glasgow EMU's with the "slanted vestibule" look THE worst).....makes blue/grey/yellow look even better now.
