WAL - Coventry to Wolverhampton LNWR

Post by eholly »

Hi Chaps

Despite my reservations ref the lack of lamps, (and my inability to install them where necessary), I decided to go ahead and upload this simple activity anyway.

It gives an insight into the changes made by Brian Bere-Streeter to the Black Country 1 route by Don Hinton. I especially like the clarity of the Birmingham Canals beyond New Street.

I hope you enjoy it.

Cheers

Hi Chaps

You will need the #AI eng files I've had to create - I'll upload those today as well.

Cheers

There appears to be a problem with the format of the .apk file.

Hi David

I constructed the relevant parts - apk, exe, etc., as I normally do. What problem are you referring to and have you tried the exe file?

Cheers

Good morning Eric (well it is "morning" for me!).

I have not yet tried the .exe file but am about to do so.

The .apk file appears to have the information for unpacking of consists but no other files. I remember something about this happening on another routes where a file name and route directory were not the same, but I do not remember the full details.

The .exe file installs all the files needed.

Hi David

You may still have a problem when trying to run the activity. If I recall, the cabview is calling for a cab that's not in the Common.Cab folder. Hang on, I'll have a look ..........

Yes, the cabview line in the engine file needs changing to CabView ("..\\..\\common.cab\\LNWR02\\LNWR05.cvf")

Hope this helps

I have investigated this further on the UKTS forum posts and confirm that it will happen when the route folder name and the "RouteID" in the .trk file differ as they do in this route ("Black Country - LNWR" and "BC1"). RouteID must be changed to match the folder name.

Hi Chaps

Just for clarity, could you confirm whether it is my .apk that is incorrect or is the fault residing inside the Route?

Eric, I have completed the activity. A very good introductory one. I am very interested in what follows ...............

The only problem I had was getting the loco not to restart itself almost immediately after stopping at a station. I missed almost all my station stops because of this. Does anyone else have the same problem?

Hi David

Thanks for the review.

The station stop issue is new to me. I have reduced all station Properties to a value of "5" as in their raw state, some were set as high as 50 which meant over a minute waiting time. My new setting assures that if you arrive with only 15 sconds to spare, passengers will have boarded by the time your departure time comes around.

My brakes are left on until I receive the "Right Away" - so how your train moves away is a connundrum to me.

Cheers
