Ged, RR is in C:\Program Files but has resided there since I first installed it long ago!

msvbvm60.$$A and the others are identical copies of msvbvm60.dll.

The fist time I had this problem is this week. I see no problems in running RR, except the error message, all appears to be as it should be with it.

As I understand it this error relates to a mismatch within the Route Riter programme, which is written using Javascript and hence the need for Java to be installed. I would guess that the mismatch is within the coding, and hence can't see how it could be fixed other than by the writer - always willing to be told otherwise?

Have you tried uninstalling both Route Riter and Java, and then reinstalling them. As I mentioned earlier my RR is in J drive and Java is in my C drive within Programme Files (x86). As they work it might not be unreasonable to do the same; i.e. locate RR away from C drive?

I have a TsUtil_startup.log file but it has not been updated since 26 February and I have used RR several times since then.

My guess is that after clicking on OK of the opening screen Route Riter reads the data in your MSTS folder and after going through it's start up routine reports that set up is complete and you can use the various utilities within RR.

In my case after I run RR I always get a TsUtil_startup.log dated the same day and time it has run.

Perhaps the fist line in my first post in this thread is relevant.
I have just upgraded from Vista Home premium 64 to Windows 7 Home Premium 64.
But, if so, why?

Ged, I believe this comment is for you.

When RR does start its defaults to opening the left pane to \Windows\system32. I have tried starting it with MSTS_Swap but the problem remains. I have tried changing the MSTS path to a correct path within RR but it will not use it and the problem remains.

Any suggestions?

Hi David,
As Route_Riter is in C:\Program Files, may I respectfully suggest you re-install it elsewhere and see if the problem persists? I think R_R writes to a file in its installation folder, which, unless permissions are correctly set, is not permitted in Win 7 onwards.

I don't believe it's anything to so with MSTS_Swap as that only adjusts the Registry entries - if R_R doesn't work when used "straight", it won't when running it through MSTS_Swap!

I'll let Ged continue to help and advise, although I did suggest installing Route Riter away from C drive some 3 posts earlier!

Unfortunately uninstalling and re-installing away from any Program Files folder does not resolve the problem.

These tthee registry entries look questionalble as I do not have a "Digital Rails" folder in "Program Files (x86)" and AceIt, TGATools and TsUtil are in subfolders of my RR folder.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\Route_Riter6\AceIt]
"Path"="C:\\\\Program Files (x86)\\\\Digital Rails\\\\AceIt"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\Route_Riter6\TGATool2A]
"Path"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Digital RailsTGATool2A"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\Route_Riter6\TsUtil]
"Path"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Digital Rails\\TSUtil"
Can you possibly tell me what you have for these two entries?

Hi David
My RouteRiter is installed on the E drive. I do have aceit.exe plus TGAtools.exe and TSUtils.exe are in the RouteRiter folder, but only TSUtils has a Subfolder here.
My registry entries are the same as yours.
I have a Digital Rails folder in Program Files x86. Inside it are folders for Aceit, RouteRiter, Shape Viewer, source, TGATool2, TSUtils. In addition there are 4 files here. Changes.txt contacts.txt install.txt Uninstal.exe.

Hope this helps

Hi David,
In your first post, you said "Route Riter (version 7.6.26)". If this is so, then I'm puzzled, because you've recently mentioned Digital Rails. This is operated by the person who took over the development of Route_Riter and has since issued newer versions (I believe 7.8.xx). If you've really installed v7.6.26 (the last version from Mike Simpson's site), then you won't have Digital Rails mentioned ANYWHERE in your PC!!

That is correct, I am having the problem with 7.6.26. At one time I did have the Digital Rails version installed.

I have spent today uninstalling and installing 7.6.26 and moving it from one folder and drive to another with no luck. The problem as I detail at the beginning of this thread remains.

One good thing is that the Digital Rivers version works with no apparent problems so that is all I can currently use. 7.6.26 does not check and manipulate file properly. It gives missing file errors where that do not exist. TsUtils works in both.

So currently I can only use the Digital Rivers version. Ged, can MSTS_Swap be configured to use this?

I also have version 7.6.26 running.
My Digital Rails folder and registry entries must have come from using a later version at one time. For some reason that I do not know I was advised on the forums to stick with v7.6.26

But as my version of RR runs fine, could your absence of the Digital Rails folder be anything to do with your problem?

I have resolved the problem and have 7.6.26 working again. I found a sheet of advice from Mike Simpson himself at http://www.rstools.info/RRInstaller.pdf. The very last item on this resolves the problem.
If you can’t get Route_Riter running at all, this item may be garbled, so Right-Click on the ‘Route_Riter6’
entry in the left hand column and select ‘Delete’ from the drop-down menu. This will remove all
Route_Riter entries from the Registry and it will be rewritten next time you run the program.

Hi David,
Good to hear you've sorted it out - it could have been some of the Digital Rails Registry entries which were messing it up!

It's probably a moot point now, but as I don't know what Registry entries the Digital Rails version uses, I can't say if MSTS_Swap will work, or not. Maybe it's something I should investigate.
