WAL - BR C2x Goods

Post by eholly »

Hi Danny

I've started the new thread for you.

When you leave Deal, after picking up the tanks and brakevan, you should travel all "green" through to Walmer - where you hit your next RP. Having tripped it, reverse your whole train in Walmer sidings and follow the instructions. It is when you clear the main line that a following stopping train can pass you.

Let me know where geographically this "Red" signal is that has held you up.

Cheers

The Red signal is just after leaving Deal, at the start of an almost 90 degree bend that takes you into Walmer. The time of approach is 0748 - possibly I'm running behind time?

Hi Danny

Here are my timings from Deal into Walmer:

Start - Down Sidings - 07.30.00
Pick up wagons - having reversed out and then crossed both main lines into Coal Yard - 07.33.31
Depart Yard - 07.34.25
Deal Station Platform - 07.34.35
Ist Signal past Deal - Deal Outer Home - Single Semaphore - 07.35.06
2nd Signal past Deal - Walmer Distant - Double Semaphore - 07.35.45
3rd Signal past Deal - Walmer Inner Home - Single Semaphore - 07.37.06 (This is also your first pop-up message with instructions for the shunt off the main line).
Walmer Station Platform & Reverse Point - 07.37.27
Reverse whole train into Walmer Up Sidings - 07.37.50

Yes Danny, you are running 10 minutes late - How??? Where on earth have you lost all that time?

Cheers

Hi Eric, I've not been playing MSTS for some time and it's taken me a while to "get back in the saddle" - I even have to think about which keyboard keys to use..... I'll have another go......! :D

Hi Danny and Eric

My timings were similar to Eric's, running the activity in Open Rails, and I had no signal problems.

It's an excellent activity (thanks Eric) for a superb route, that looks stunning in Open Rails (thanks Danny, and all scenery/stock creators).

I hope you are feeling somewhat better Eric.

Kind regards
Mike

Hi Danny & Mike

Danny, I'm sure you'll get back into the swing of things pretty quickly.

As I drive these engines, I have in my minds eye the real driver, turning the reverser like billio the other way, while still travelling in the counter direction - every turn of his wheel making the next movement easier, quicker and more efficient. Sometimes, like him, I don't even touch the brake - just opening the regulator to get us moving in the new direction.

Thanks for your kind remarks Mike - I am a little better and like Danny, trying to get back into the swing of things.

Cheers chaps, hope it goes well for you.

Just tried MSTS again...everything went well and was driving through Deal station at 0735 with green lights indicated and suddenly MSTS just crashed!
Then tried OR but the loco went off path when trying to reverse back to the wagons - so this was a nogo...

Not a good day, but I'll try again tomorrow - after I get back from the Dentist!

Oh Dear Danny

Let's hope your trip to the Dentist doesn't go pear shaped as well!!!

Seriously, what I forgot to say yesterday was how wonderful this little engine is. Dave Robinson created a masterpiece here! I love watching the inside cylinders do their job and the exhaust sound - with its characteristic "cough" - is exquisite!

Hope you feel up to having another go later on ........................................

Cheers

Another day but unfortunately same results..

My latest PC struggles with MSTS and the persistent jerking doesn't help, but after another two attempts I still can't get into Deal Station before 0735 and consequently lose position to another Up train.

In OR the sim is quite smooth but unfortunately after tripping the RP in the yard, the loco goes "off path" and does not follow the road to the stationary wagons.

Reluctantly I'll have to pass on this activity.

Hi Danny

Sorry to hear that report. Next one I do for SouthEast will have to be more straightforward!

Thanks for giving it a go anyway.
