Installing East Coast express and patches.

Post by aj52mdy »

Hello every one.
I have recently splashed out and purchased from UKTS the four East Coast express CD's
Please can someone take me through the proceedure and sequence for installing them
and the various patches.
I have twice managed to get the activities up and running only for it to all go
belly up after I installed the patches.
Also, I have only managed to find four patches relating to ECE These are:-
UKTS 24552 ece2_1.2
UKTS 31082 LL New roads fix
UKTS 32360 ECE_Grantham Patch
replacement eb_ece2_ka_signs.ace
Are there or should there be any more patches? and is there a sequence for
installing them between installing the routes?
I note that when I have finished loading each disc there is a patch which stiches
each route together.
I also note that on all four discs most of the activities have ASV files Are these
necessary to have?
As usual any help or advice would be most appreciated.
Cheers
Andy

It would appear that there are two missing patches, I have found some info on the TSSH forum and it appears that after installing part one London to Peterbrough
there is a "EastCoastExpressPart1_Update1.exc which I do not have.
There is also another patch called EastCoastExpressPart2Activity5Update.exc.
I have looked at the Contact Sales website which appears to come under Excaliber, It is manly for flight Simulation but yes there are several of the
Train Simulator add ons including all four ECE CD's but no patches or references to them.
Does anybody know where I can get these two patches? They d not appear to be in the UKTS Liberary.

Many thanks
Andy

Hi Andy,
If you've installed all four parts of the East Coast Route, I wouldn't recommend installing Part1 Update1, even if you could find it! The reason being that it includes rdb, rit, tdb and tit files, which, if installed, may overwrite your multi-part versions and leave you in a right mess!!

Part1 Update 1 only included a few scenery updates plus a change to a signal to make it more visible (so it says!). If you wish, you can check a World file - open folder WORLD, scroll down to file w-006075+14947.w and check its creation date and time. I have an installation which has all four parts of ECE and the date and time of this file are : 11/6/2006 23:00. Note that the file provided in Part1 Update1 is dated 11/6/2006 22:51, which seems to imply that either I didn't apply the Part1 Update1, or it was overwritten when a subsequent part was installed.

Sorry, I can't help with the Part2 Activity5 Update; I do remember something, but I don't have it. If you try Activity 5 for Part 2, you may well come across the problem, whatever it is!

Cheers,

Hi Andy, looking at my Activity Analyser sheet for EC2-05 Voyager to York, I wrote that I met 2 Red Signals on way to the Platform
in Doncaster which made me late arriving to pick up the passengers.
I arrived at 16:09:26 but still arrived at York 30.secs early so I made a note to amend the Doncaster times to arriving at 16:09:45 and
leaving at 16:10:15, other than that I had no trouble with this activity.

Thanks Ged and Bob.
So I take it that these two updates are indeed not crucial and are no longer available.
I shall attempt to install parts 2 to 4 and the other updates.
I certainly won't loose sleep over a few missing scenery objects and I use the track monitor anyway for signals.
Lets see what happens this time.
Cheers
