HI,can anyone tell me please, if it is possible to purchase this route any where else other than 3D Trains as i do not want to have to pay in dollars as you have to, via there website Thanks.Peter.

you could try amazon or ebay,or you can get version 1 from the cd ordering page,or aerosoft.com,who originally made the route

I think it's unlikely you'll be able to get a new Cambrian 2 route anywhere other than 3DTrainStuff.
It's nothing like version 1 (as mentioned by Mike) !

Why don't you want to pay in dollars? If you've got a credit card, it's no problem. The main route is $43.95, which is, currently, just under £29 plus any commission. There is also an expansion pack available at $27.95 (£18+) which adds diesels and some steam locos together with new stock, sounds and cabs and many new activities. Both packs are only available by download, these days

Hi Peter, I agree with Ged, the improved Cambrian Coast Route can only be bought from 3DTrainstuff as a download, I bought the two original CD's
after checking that they would not be a problem with the Route Folder names.
They replied that each has its own Route folder name and so I ended up with two versions of this Route and I've just recently bought an Austrian
Route from amazon.de using Paypal and they automatically work out the currency conversion so there was no problems in that department.
I can say that both are excellent Routes with loads of stock and many challenging Activities to make it a worthwhile addition to my collection,
as Ged has said the price will work out just under £29.00 and for many years with it only being available as a download the chances of getting the
CD version cheaper elsewhere will be very slim.

I've checked Amazon and Ebay and neither have the Cambrian 2. It is a superb route with plenty of detail and the rolling stock is also of a very high quality. It is also still one of my favourite routes.

I've bought a few MSTS from them, the currency changes from dollars to sterling while doing the checkout. It's no biggie when it comes to overseas suppliers.

I'm not sure I understand why you're reluctant to download a route instead?
Once downloaded; you burn it onto a CD/DVD as a backup and job done.

The only concern I could see is if you're on a metered connection; but they're in the minority I think these days.

After seeing this thread I decided to buy this Route.

5 minutes after ordering on line an email with the download link arrived.
This worked without any problem and I did a test run 20min later.
I'll go to the bank tomorrow and check the charge in £.

THe route is good and the locos and coaches look good but I was very dissapointed with the wagons.
Most can be replaced by my own wagons and I have spent the last few days making replacements for the PO wagons.
Fortunately I found photos and details to make accurate models.




If anybody wants them I'll upload the PO wagons..

Ian just wondering if that includes VAT added on,I find ordering from abroad looks cheap and then you add blasted 20% vat,then it's not so cheap.
I now find if I want to buy something from Marks & Spencer,is to get my girlfriend who lives in Tallinn Estonia ( Marks & Spencer have a shop there) to buy it as VAT there is lower than the UK

Probably the price includes US sales tax but a US trader would not charge UK VAT.

With a download the only way the VAT man wouuld know that you have made a purchase is if he could read your email.

Our goverment would never do that. (insert sarcasm smily here)

BTW not quite right about US purchases...

Streamlines use SWREG. SWREG allows you to pay by PayPal ....but then unlike PayPal purchases direct it adds 20% VAT . Now I don't mind paying tax BUT I do mind paying it to SWREG. Bottom line is that Streamlines Purchases here in the UK have to be on a 30% discount offer before we get them in the UK for the same price folk get them in the US

Being into Railroads I buy a lot of US download stuff and Streamlines is the only one that clobbers you for tax.

What you do have to watch out for is Exchange Rates. PayPal and SWREG have pretty awful exchange rates. MasterCard publish their Ex Rate online so you can check the actual cost if paying by CC.

As for hard copy? Well nowadays I use pen drives rather than CD's. Some stuff I've had backed up on CD will not read anymore so whatever back-up you use the rule is make three separate copies at least. Pen Drives are cheap as chips nowadays and the only one of those that failed on me was snapped when SWMBO's laptop was whipped off the table by the dog

Although the stock was a bit quirky in Cambrian 2 (and the original come to that) there's nothing in either route that hasn't been covered by good freeware now and the routes are both pretty good. Living nearby I can vouch for the Swanage Railway too.

Folk worry so much about online purchases but the frauds on my CC have been carried out in Petrol Stations in this country. You ain't gonna stop buying Petrol or Diesel because of that though are you?

Cambrian 2 is a brilliant route - I wrote quite a few activities for it a few years ago.

I dealt directly with 3DTrainStuff.com via email, both when I ordered the CD and afterwards, via their customer support team, when the original CD developed a fault and I needed a replacement copy.

A small company situated in a Calfornian valley, they are a bunch of dedicated railway enthusiasts who love their work.
