Afternoon, I am looking for a copy of the VBuilder3D program from 2003. This program was made freeware and available at
http://www.trainsim.com/vbts/content.ph ... w-Freeware I had messed with that program a eon ago and would like to pick up a old personal interest build. The problem is with age and time I have lossed some of my CD backups to mold or rust which ever you call it.
If anyone can dig deep and turn up a copy of VBuilder3D.exe 1.3 I would be eternally greatful.
Robert

Hi Robert
A google search for VBuilder3D turns up this as the 1st hit.
http://vbuilder3d.software.informer.com/
"VBuilder3D . The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 1.1 and 1.3. The name of the program executable file is VBuilder3D.exe. The product will soon be reviewed by our informers. "
There is a "Start Download -- free version" button
Who knows what will arrive!

Hi Garry and Robert,
I'd be VERY wary of clicking that download button - it doesn't seem to be the program you want! It MIGHT be a downloader for it, but I doubt it.
Cheers,
Ged

I too would add caution to those links:
The Start Download Free Version button takes you to:
nextclickads.adk2x.com
The Download Now and Watch Now buttons are both in the same invisible link box and that takes you to:
ads.adsrvmedia.net
Who knows what you are leading in to with Advert Servers or what subversive software they will install on your machine.
They will state that they use cookies to track your location on their site, but what else ???

Hi Robert
Others also advise caution with this link.
I have followed another link --
http://flyawaysimulation.com/news/451/ -- to an article from 2003 which says "The .3ds files created by VBuilder3D ..."
Now I have not used .3ds files, but a quick look at Sketchup shows that you can import .3ds files to there. You can then manipulate the files in Sketchup, and export them in MSTS format. I have not got to grips with texturing in Sketchup so I go to MSTS via 3DCrafter.
I find Sketchup very easy to use.

I have seen the informer site, but caution against it. My experiences with those sites have not been good in the past. This program may have become part of something else at some point? I did contact the author, But I have gotten no response thus far.
Thanks for the heads up on Sketchup importer for .3ds. I am using the old Gmax. I can import but not export .3ds in Gmax.
