HS4000 'Kestrel' has not been scrapped...
Taken from "End of the Line" (http://www.wigancrdc.co.uk/) site today...
"Although widely supposed to have been dismantled somewhere in Russia circa 1989 the most powerful locomotive ever to run on BR, HS4000 'Kestrel' has not been scrapped, it can be revealed today. Built by Brush, Loughborough back in 1967 'Kestrel' undertook a number of trails on the BR network before being exported to Russia back in July 1971.
As can be appreciated once it had disappeared behind the iron curtain tracking its fate became almost impossible however a recent business trip to Russia and a chance conversation led to a visit to a one time rail connected former military type installation in Sherbinka near Moscow at which were noted several different European locomotives in varying states of disrepair. "There was no mistaking it" writes MT on sighting the bodyshell of HS4000, "underneath the rust and grime the distinctive lines and styling of Kestrel could quite plainly be made out." Unfortunately there were no internals, its power unit long gone, and it appeared to be sat upon a set of accommodation bogies of some description."
Preservation attempt anybody ?
It would make a great gate guardian for Brush.

That's what they look likeZackybong1 wrote:Yes. I wonder if it will arrive at the same time as the Baby Brush?
Ooh, look! Theres a BTH 1 in the background. How's that coming on too?
They'll probably arrive at the same time as Kestrel, 10000, Hymek, SVR, London to Brighton and Highworth
Like London buses, all turn up at once
Cheers
