Realistic snow.

Post by spartacus »

A new download has appeared on train-sim.com supposedly giving 'realistic' falling snow, which from the screen shots looks pretty good. What I wanted to know is if anybody has tried it, how good is it really, are the files difficult to install (is it just overwriting old files, or altering them?) and are there any framerate issues? For various reasons i'm not able to test it out myself yet, :( but would welcolm anybody's views.

I've d'loaded but not yet installed. There's now a post on the train-sim forum which has a little feedback. Hope this helps.

I have the daytime files installed on Pat Daltons S & C Route.

If the link works there should now be a picture

or not.....

showing D1041 at Horton in a blizzard. Its early days yet but it does look the business. Something a 'still' picture can not convey.

You do get full installation instructions plus a choice of either light, medium or heavy snow.

OK, what am I doing wrong here....why no picture :argue:

Where is it available?

The "fiz" should put some pep and sparkle in it!

I've always had the precipitation set to off on my old system. Rain and snow have such a huge effect on frame-rate, and I honestly don't miss it now. Besides, after an hour and a half of snow on Marias Pass when I first got MSTS, I was feeling a bit woozey! It gets quite hypnotic after a while...

Also has same effect after a couple of Pint's, then playing Msts. :D

So, just to summerise, is it worth those of us with Sky Conductor 2 d'loading this new realistic snow? Would we see any improvement over what Sky Conductor already gives us? And if we do d'load, will we lose the realistic snow settings every time we change the Sky Conductor settings! (My brain's beginning to hurt.)

Regards, Nick.
