I've just installed the MEP Mini Route. It's getting a bit late to start playing now but I wonder if anyone can answer a couple of queations please?
Previously against better advice I've copied files from mini routes over to my main MSTS installation so I can create explore paths and /or use my own stock. Some mini routes such as NWC have worked fine like this but others such as SCP have been prone to freezing/crashing.
Thought this time I would like to try and use the MEP Mini Route as it was intended. However I was wondering how you may be able to create explore paths and use your own stock without copying it into your main MST installation.
Say for example I wanted to create a basic activity or explore in a present day context. Let's say I wanted to go from Grantham to Skegness or Newark to Lincoln using current day EMT stock-153,156,158,HST for example. How and can this be done if I leave it as a mini route?
Had the original Mid Eat UK Route and really liked that so really looking forward to trying this one!!!!!!
Yours sincerely
Aidan

Hi,
You should have a shortcut on your desktop to the MEP editors - this will allow you to create paths/activities etc.
Installing stock is pretty much the same as for the main install except that you need to point stuff to the MEP folders rather than the normal ones.

Re: Creating Explore Paths On Mini Routes
Hi Gentlemen,
I found that when initially using the Editor's Desktop icon, I got a "train.exe has stopped working" message. Accessing the properties of the shortcut and selecting "Run as administrator" solved that problem.
It takes quite a long time (as expected) to start the Activity Editor,### and once into it, it is virtually unusable! It may just be me, or my system, but I'm not able to expand the map sufficient enough in order to create a path - maybe I'm just not waiting long enough! I have tried with only one activity selected, without much improvement.###
I'm grateful for the great quantity of activities supplied, but I'm sure there are many, like Aidan, who want to create their own personal acts. With this in mind, any help and / or advice would be welcomed.
Cheers,
Ged
EDIT :### Please ignore the above section! I was moving the mouse too quickly - moving it more slowly enables the map to expand - apologies for the impatience

This isn't necessarily so.gswindale wrote:Hi,

If, like I have, in Windows 7 you have set up an Administrator User profile essentially for maintenance work, and an ordinary (non-administrator) user profile for day-to-day work, including MSTS, even if the route is installed while in the ordinary user profile the desktop shortcuts will appear on the Admin user profile desktop, not the day-to-day desktop. Or, that's what happened to mine anyway.
However it is simple enough to create shortcuts - there's plenty of instructions here on the forum.

Re: Creating Explore Paths On Mini Routes-Update
Over the weekend I have managed to create some paths and introduce some of my own rolling stock as I wanted.
Thanks to all who replied with help and information. MEP really is a "mega" sized route with pleanty of mileage, stock and activities to explore.
A big thanks to all involved in it's evolution, design and production!!!!!
