Malcolm Roper

Post by pdeee »

This morning I received a phone call from Malcolm’s daughter to tell me her father had died last night. Many of you will not have heard of Malcolm Roper, he approached me soon after S&C 1930 was released, sending me timetables, engine loadings and other information on the S&C. He also offered to assist me if I wished to continue development of the route, by providing any buildings that I required.
From then on it became “ourâ€

Sorry to hear about that Pat. My grandfather died recently so I guess I can understand what his family are going through. Perhaps the Skipton extension ought to be dedicated to his memory, and a more permanent memorial set up linked from the UKTS front page.

Also sorry to hear this news Pat. I had a few emails from Malcolm last year when he was learning tsm.

Very sad when talented people pass away.

Please pass on my condolences to Malcolm's family. It was only 2 weeks ago that Malcolm sent me some modified signs for my route, plus a bridge. I'll miss him terribly.

Here is a picture of happier times. Martin Heywood, Pat and Malcolm at the Beaconsfield show with me lurking in the background.

Pat

My condolences .... there's a number of members who havn't enjoyed the best of health and got much pleasure from MSTS in one way or another and it's sad to hear of the loss of one such person.

We all have our ups and downs but a common interest brings us back together again.

Best regards

John

I never met Malcolm in person, but used to chat with him every night on MSN Messenger until very recently on all things railways and his other passions aircraft/radio communications. It's thanks to Malcolm my TSM skills improved with every model I built.

A real mate who I will miss so much.

I have seen Settle and Carlise 1930's version, so i understand the work that went into it. Perhaps a memorial of some kind could be added to the new route, like Tim Court added a small cross at Hatfield platform.
I used to like the WWF {now the WWE}. When one of the wresterlers was killed during a show, the wwf dedicated a computer game to his memory {Owen Hart, part of the Hart family. Whilst the game was loading, a simple picture would come up on the screen with him smiling, his national flag and a couple of lines about him. Perhaps something like this could be added to the new route?
