Mideast V1.3 Patch IMPORTANT!!!! PLEASE READ
All,
becuase all were wanting this patch to resolve derail issues I have uploade the patch as a beta, this beta flag will be lifted as soon as those who have it submit favourable feedback.
IT WONT WORK IF.....
You are not upgraded to V1.2
You have messed with the route in route editor.
PATHS will show as broken.
For all paths you have generated outside of the default ones.
if you do not know how to fix paths don't download the upgrade, if you do then download the upgrade and give me a holler to let me know all is ok, basically because due to the time contstraints I wanted to get the fix out right away and have only done limited testing.
I also need feedback from those of you using the patch.

Having had a little bit of experience fixing broken paths, I thought I'd try the patch (after backing up first, of course).
After installing the patch I went into the AE and worked my way down the path list, fixing the broken ones. In my UK1/Paths folder I have about 600 paths, so it was a fairly long process.
Much to my surprise, when I went back to the top of the list, I found that some of the ones I'd thought I'd fixed were broken again, so I worked my way down again.
Looks like another bug in MSTS. For example, there is an activity for MEUK called ECML Diversion that uses several paths. If I fix one, it breaks the others. If I fix one of the others, the first one is broken again. .!!
I decided the only solution was to have both versions of UK1 installed, one at a time - v1.2 with all of the activities I have collected to date (and the derailing problem) and v1.3 with only the activities included in the patch.
Has anyone else tried this and run into the same problem?
It's not a big deal since I assume people will now start writing activities for v1.3 or will upgrade their v1.2 activities with paths that will work.

Hi Tim.
I have installed your upgrade and revamped my activity Postal pick up and so far everything is in order and running OK. I have now arrived at St Neots and there was no problem at Biggleswade although I was carefull and reduced my speed to 55mph. So there it is no problems so far. when fully satisfied I will Re-upload the activity under version 1.3
Thanks for your help Tim.
Regards.
Alan.

I have been fixing my path's.....
Just about all done, tested with the ME_Master_Cutler all ok.
Tried Flying Scotsman accross the entire route, about 4-5 hour's just testing.
I used the ITR to test It all.

I know this doesn't sound logical (I know, I know, why would I expect MSTS to be logical!) but this is what is happening:
I installed the 1.3 upgrade. I moved all of the activities, paths, services and traffic to another location, leaving the empty folders behind.
I moved 130 paths into the Paths folder and opened AE. I looked in Service Editor / Paths and there were only 61 paths (out of 130) showing up, some of them broken.
I fixed about 6 of the broken ones, checking them several times an Alan suggested. I then closed AE and restarted it and the fixed paths were still showing up as okay. I then went down to the next broken one and fixed it. I looked back up the list and some of the ones I had fixed in the first session were now broken. I looked at the first of these and it was showing the red line of a broken path. I fixed it again and the (broken) disappeared from a few of them (not just the one I had just fixed) but the first one I had fixed in the second session was now broken again. I fixed that again and the earlier ones were then broken.
This is really weird. In theory, each path is a stand-alone file and changing one should not affect any others.
I'm stumped!!
Any ideas?

I fixed all my path's by repairing one, copy and paste to a safe location, then repair next.....
I also discovered that Msts AE was not just saving one file but was adjusting several path's when It saved.
I checked the Date and timee of file's as I edited them, a few had similar name's, all got changed by Msts, even the Northbound Express file's, and the copied version's.
After i used the back-up after each save I managed to get a full list of fixed path's.
I do not like Msts AE now. I much prefer the RE.

Sorry you're having problems latimers - I must admit I've never had to make changes on such a scale. I wonder if its a problem because the service files aren't present? I know it shouldn't, but when I've done it in the past I've left everything in place.
I hope t'other Alan's plan works for you.

Bob,
Sounds weird, if you have a default install of Mideast then all the default patsh should be fixed, if you want to zip your paths folder bob I can take a look and fix them for you if you like.
You do not need to have the activity upen for this one although non player paths are hidden and I would need the services and traffic folders.
