UK's Worst........Journeys

Post by XPTE »

Tonight at 9:30 on BBC1. Including the bus that leaves but never comes back, and the 15 mile bus journey that can take 9 hours.

Worth a watch. Might have one or two train journeys included in the line-up too.

It just sounds like another media excuse for rail/public transport bashing.

UK's worst rail journey must be a 175 from birmingham to holyhead.

Did anyone see the programme? I was most amused by that report about the Wallace Arnold holiday an OAP from Battle booked to go just 15 miles away to Eastbourne. Little did she know that she had to travel on a Wallace Arnold coach to some inter-junction pickup point somewhere in Hertfordshire, then get on another coach to travel all the way back down to Eastbourne. A journey time of 9 hours! What a joke. No surprise there to see that they got voted the worst journey award.

That was in the local newspaper ages ago (Eastbourne Hearld).
She should of been informed by the travel agent that you change coaches en-route.

In an age where the consumer comes last in the pecking order it is precisiely this kind of high profile naming and shaming that we need from public service broadcasting.

Except that they go boo-hiss at everything, 5 yr old style! Besides, even if the consumer does come last, they are obviosly getting an acceptable product; The CONSUME IT!

Yes, well, I don't really agree with that.

Usually its through lack of choice, and companies paying lip service to customer care but the reality is that profits and shareholders are mighty stronger motivators for company directors.

The staff, usually well meaning at first are then either brainwashed with company flannel or, for the stubborn ones, threatened into submission.
