What is best and worst in MSTS
I have been using MSTS for a year now and have seen the quality of the freeware just get better and better, I think I would have got bored with the sim as supplied by now but with such great add ons I always find something to re kindle my enthusiasm. I think some of the latest routes are really special, and thank all concerned for their generosity in sharing their work. I hope that in future MSTS can be improved, I would like to see proper signalling and a steam engine where you can drive from the cab using the mouse and see where you are going, and more realistic performance of trains, some add ons are much more correct in their power, steam in real life was never so easy to raise especially with the boiler mismanaged to the extent mine are when I admire the view instead of concentrating on the job in hand. What do others think of MSTS, what do you like or dislike about it. p.s Premium membership of this site is the best £10 worth on the net.
Best thing is the huge amount of freeware available from here, I think most of the sound files are excellent and give the loco's a finishing touch. As for the worst I'd say the way the route editor works, I tried it a while ago and have yet to try again, I will build a route 1 day though.
As for a steam loco with a good view from the cab your going to have a hard time finding a prototype to use. I know using the keys when driving steam can be a real pain so i know how you feel. Suppose you will just have to do what they do in real life and pop your head out of the cab using the side views.
