This goes out really to all those of you who create and upload material to UKTS.

Apart from playing the game itself, what else do you most enjoy about MSTS?

I didn't notice this was for UKTS uploaders before I voted. I haven't uploaded one here as I focus on activities for US routes. I generally come here to keep up with what you folks on the other side of the pond have come up with and to share things that we have.

I seem to have done a number of cabviews.

I only ever intended to do the one, odd how things happen, eh? :)

i've never uploaded anything, and to be honest the standard of my workmanship has been quite poor in the stuff i've tried to make myself, but i do enjoy making routes. i'm going to sturggle with it though cos i'm such a poor modeller (any buildings i make will have to be 10 miles away from the track!)

I can't decide either. I enjoy making activities (but they're very basic), but i also enjoy editing routes to add signals or sidings. I have also done some repaints.

Cabs are more enjoyable than activities as far as I'm concerned... but then I still ain't made many of either... Yet... :-?

But second best to running the sim? The community spirit. I spend more time in these forums than I do actually running the sim! You're all (well mostly all ;) ) a great bunch of people and make the whole thing very enjoyable.

I votec for activites. Think I've created and uploaded about 15 of them now. Enjoyed creating them, and it's rewarding watching the download counts for them increasing, and the occasional comments from people saying how much they enjoyed playing them. Have to admit, I'm getting slightly bored of creating activites now though, but I'm sure I'll be uploading a good few more over the coming years.

Haven't had a go at any modelling any loco's, passenger cars, buildings etc yet though. Not really sure I will either, despite me forking out for TS Modeller last year. But never say never.

The ultimate rewarding experience though is creating and uploading routes(which I haven't done yet). The creator can post screenshots of the route in progress, plus of course details of the route and they would recieve loads of postings here on the forums such as "Wow! Can't wait to drive this route! Keep up the good work". Then when the route is finally uploaded it will be rewarding watching the download count increase, and then the many activities that fellow UKTS members would upload using their route. Plus of course the hours(or rather weeks, months) of fun you could have running the route of course. There's only so many times you can play activites before getting bored of them, but routes are different, it'll take you longer to get bored of the routes themselves!

I've actually just started work on a very ambitious project of a new route for MSTS. And I currently have quite a bit of spare time to spend on creating it too, allthough I'm not sure how much longer the spare time will last. Not going to discolose any details of the route though, as I don't want to raise people's expectations of the route, and then only having to dissapoint them at a later date by announcing the project is cancelled due most likely to problems with Route Editor. I'll announce the details if(or hopefully when) all the trackwork is successfully laid down.

Well there's a wealth of quality addons to and the activity editor is brilliant.

It may not be correct to compare MSTS against Trainz but the biggest advantage of MSTS is the activity editor (though Trainz Yardmaster looks interesting but not yet available. Another advantage is that MSTS has mousable cabviews.

However, I'm beginning to spend more time with Trainz because the surveyor (scenery editor) is brilliant and when Yardmaster comes out it promises to make activity editor quite easy.

I think I'll be using both for some time to come.

I thinkthat all route authors who have successfully managed to create and finish a route without getting stumped by the message of death(see illustration) deserve a huge round of applause!! I have just test drove my route so far, which is barely 1.5 miles in length, only to get that bloody annoying error message upon loading up. Think I'll scrap the whole project now. Just as well I didn't get that far into the project anyway.

Let's hope MSTS2 has a far better and reliable Route Editor than the current one.[/img]
