Pullman Trains
Hello
I was just wondering if there were any BR Pullman Train Services out of Euston,I know there were on the Southern\Midland\ Eastern and Western Regions,I know there was a Pullman Service up until 1958 from St Pancras before being transferred to Kings Cross.

Re: Pullman Trains
For a time there was also a Pullman to Liverpool.
Both trains started after the electrification of the routes and the opening of the new Euston station.

Hello Darwin,
Many thanks for your prompt reply,I had just down loaded Dave's Semaphore addition to Thames -Mersey,and was wondering if there were Steam Hauled Pullman's
I'm using the latest LMS Coaches,Ian's repainted BR coaches also the newer steam loco's and early 1st generation diesels.

Re: Pullman Trains
Sorry, there was never a Pullman at Euston "in steam days".
The LMS considered their own catering vehicles as good as any Pullmans. (The Pullmans contracted by the Caledonian worked in Scotland till the contract ran out in 1933, when the cars were bought up and painted LMS crimson.)
So things continued under BR until electrification.
You can always try a what if... after the introduction of the Queen of Scots on the LNER, the Pullman Car company did try to persuade the LMS to think about an Anglo-Scottish Pullman train...
GWR also did not use Pullmans after a brief try at running a Torbay Pullman in the early 30s. But later under BR a Pullman to South Wales did appear.
The big Pullman users were the LNER and the Southern.

One should never forget the "infamous" Blue Pullmans that ran on the the WR and MR, albeit in the 60s!

Re: Pullman Trains
I've just turned up an interesting fact (though I don't think it will help Mike) - the very first Pullman cars to work on British rails were indeed on the Midland Railway. They operated out of St Pancras between 1874 and 1888. It was 72 years before the Midland Pullman returned - and those cars were the last dedicated Pullmans built at the Derby workshops of BR. Talk about full circle.
Later BR Pullmans, Mk IIIs with just the name appended, don't really count as Pullmans in my opinion!
