EM1_EM2 cab file

Post by spionkop »

Hi all

Help please. I am trying to install the EM1_EM2.cab into the trainset folder. I have read the instructions over 2 or 3 times and I can't make sense of it. When I try to put a back slash in the name of the folder the operating system won't let me. How do I get round this?

Hi Steve

I think you've maybe mis-read the instructions in the readme file. You shouldn't need to place a backslash in the file name (and if you do, the operating system will reject the name as you've found) - the backslash simply separates one layer of folders in your MSTS installation from the previous/next layer.

Hi Steve, looking at the instructions for the Cabview for the EM1_EM2 loco, first create
in your MSTS Trains/Trainset folder a new folder and rename it EM1_EM2.cab.
Once you've done this the open it up and create a new folder within it and rename that
just cab, now copy all the files that are contained in the download File below into the
folder called cab.
 Click to view more informationEM1 EM2 cabview [3523336 bytes] - EM1_EM2 cabview.zip
File ID: 4195 Date: 25 Dec 2002 - 7644 Downloads

Once you've done that you can add the Files that are contained in the download File
below which adds stuff to the original Cabview.
 Click to view more informationEM1/EM2 Cab Upgrade [929502 bytes] - EM1- EM2 Cab Upgrade.zip
File ID: 4641 Date: 02 Feb 2003 - 4680 Downloads

The Cabview in any of this set of loco's uses a file called Acela.cvf and if you open
this up using Wordpad it finds everything it needs to create a Cabview in the Folder
you have just created in your Trains/Trainset Folder.

Hi Bob and Ash

I have finally got it installed. I really should have known, but never mind we got there in the end. Thank you both for your help, much appreciated.

Hi Steve, glad that you have succeeded in getting the Cabview installed and this shows the need to printout
and follow the instructions in the Read-me carefully to get what you want.
