Thames Trent - Finedon to Brent Coal activity
I have tried every driving skill I know and cannot continue up the 1.6% incline before Harpenden. How are others doing?

This is interesting.... does it mean that MSTS does may get different results from its internal calculations when running on different machines? Or is there some other variable being overlooked here?

Hi David,
Is the small ejector closed (J Key)
Is the brake returned to RUNNING position after release
Are you running out of steam? Check the boiler pressure, steam generation rate and steam usage rate in the F5 HUD on your approach.
Regards,
Andy

Rick - yes
Andy - yes, yes and no steam problem
I have managed to continue with regulator 95%, cut off 25 although I was down to 1 mph at one point.

I know there are a some hard sections to run on the up like up to Wymington Tunnel, Ampthill Tunnel, Sundon, Harpenden Juntion, but with such a light load of 45 for a 9F, activity writer states a Vacuum Fitted Mineral you should be going through
the stated sections at a minimum 15mph.
The loads for the 9Fs were very nearly the same as the Garratts which they replaced.
25 percent cut off I would drop that down to 40 at least and regulator at 94 percent, I know I stormed through Harpenden
and Mick were not doing to bad either.
Hope this helps some Regards, Rick

Thanks Rick. Something, somewhere must be causing these problems. Darwin's comment may need to be considered (below):1crick14a wrote:Daviddforrest wrote:Rick - yes
