EuropeanBahn site set to close
I'm not sure how many of you are aware of this but... I received this email at the beginning of the week:-
Dear Customer,
Following a short illness and sudden passing of Ken Austin, the founder and main developer of Europeanbahn products, earlier this year the tough decision has been made to close the business as there is no-one in the family with the knowledge or skills to be able to continue his work in the development of new train routes.
This is therefore your last chance to buy any train routes you don’t already have before the site closes on the 10th October 2012.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your past custom.
Europeanbahn
This is a great shame as a number of us were looking forward to the continuing East Coast Series etc . I didn't know Ken personally, but he played a very big part in the making of many products for MSTS over the years.
My condolences to Ken's family and friends for they're loss.

Re: EuropeanBahn site set to close
Hi to all interested,
If this carries any truth at all, being as the site front page carries no information relating to this, and also, I bought something off the site just last weekend and did not receive this email,
then we are in for a sudden shock closure along the lines of BATS. However, the casualty list will not be the older routes, of which there are copies still circulating, but the newer products including HS1. Perhaps someone involved with Europeanbahn, such as Carl Westwood ,could enlighten us?
Regards

Hello All,
Whilst we are obviously interested in what the outcome will be re availability.
I believe we should allow Ken's family time to come to terms with their sad loss before asking for /expecting answers about the content.
To Ken's bereaved.
Many condolences from me and I hope you cope OK.
Doug

Hi again,
not a single word of tribute to the site founder.
Perhaps the following from the forum speaks volumes:-
Since I posted the earlier message, I noticed that the front page has been reduced and that the ISO Tankers and HS1 panel no longer appear to be there, and it's not possible to get the ISO Tanker pack now. As far as the future of the site and everything that was in development is concerned, it looks like there is no future for them at present.
Perhaps some belated arrangements could be made to host the patches on UKTS.
regards
It would appear that Ken's passing is not recent, and whilst I personally feel every respect for Ken and his family, it's been amazing that non of this has been reflected on the site,I believe we should allow Ken's family time to come to terms with their sad loss before asking for /expecting answers about the content.

So it would appear that some were looking for news following the email. Most users ever online was 11 on Mon Oct 01, 2012 8:36 pm

Hi Steve,
So I can understand the thinking.
It would be nice though. If a hoster? could be found for the content.
Good luck
Doug
Guilty as charged I can not say I was there often.SDtrains wrote:Perhaps the following from the forum speaks volumes:-

RIP Ken. I hope the site does carry on, but I wonder if there is anyone to take this over and carry on creating fantastic products that it has always done?
Cheers

All patches up to August 2010 are already here in the library with Kens agreement and approval.SDtrains wrote:Hi again,

Re: EuropeanBahn site set to close
Hi,
It looks like all of the route patches are available at UKTS, but the later rolling stock patches, which apply to the Commuter South, Brighton Belle and ISO Tanker download packs will no longer be available after the site closes.

Re: EuropeanBahn site set to close
Hi Everyone, sorry to hear about the death of Ken and this explains why I never got a reply
to my approval to have access to the forums during the summer.
I did want to know certain things about the ECE Parts 1-4 and just now I've downloaded the
Patches for the ISO Tanker Pack through the EB site and paid £8.99 for the main package using
PayPal.
Almost immediately I got the message back thanking me for my order which contained an enclosed
File for me to save and this I have done twice so I will have a backup copy whenever I need it.

Hi,
Interestingly, the site page for the ISO Tankers is not linked to the rest of the Europeanbahn site. The following link gives access:-
http://www.europeanbahn.co.uk/ISOTankers_details.htm
Hopefully, a solution will be found to enable what is left of Europeanbahn to have a future.

What I don't get is that there are some new plans in the pipeline and also they need some help and creating a few things; Here is the link (Top of the page) http://www.europeanbahn.co.uk/index.htm

Re: EuropeanBahn site set to close
Hi Andy,
That has been on the website for a long time! Notice that there are a couple of items which say "Buy before the 31st Jan 2012.... " ; that would seem to suggest that the site's not been updated for at least 10 months!
Cheers,
Ged
