EM1 Pantograph

Post by paullad1984 »

Just a quick question about the delightful EM1's recently released, shouldn't both pantographs go up when you "switch on"? All the photos ive seen show both raised, and it looks odd having only one up but getting sparks on the overhead wire above the non-raised one?

Hi Paul

It might be a MSTS problem, dating from when it first came out,the American Electric Loco'a only had one Pantograph

Hi

I can't run MSTS ATM (PC Died) ... but these locos say they need the Bin patch .... so maybe the other pantograph is activated as a 'second' pantograph.

Cheers

Hi guys,

I too have the same problem. I tried them with bin and still couldn't get the second one up.
I opened the eng file and changed both of the pantograph controls to be the reverse ( 1 0 1 instead of 0 1 0 ).
Now they are both up when I load them. I hope this helps.

Besides that, I must say they are a great model, I'm looking forward to seeing if the EM2's get released.

Thanks Justin, but it's not necessary!! The only difference is that the loco starts with the pantographs raised instead of lowered.
Pressing P controls the rear pantograph and Shift+P the front one :)

Hi Ged,

I tried that but only the rear one would work, for some reason shift + p wouldn't work.
I am using the latest version of bin.
That's why I changed the eng file, it could be a unique problem with my setup.
But if it helps others....

Hi Justin,

My computer is the same only the P key works,so like you only one pantograph would go up,so tried your method and both are up now.

Thanks for the tip about changing the eng.pantograph lines

Hi All,
Just to stick my 2-pen'orth in.

I have the Pantograghs working Independantly Rear on "p" and Front on "SHIFT+P" so the .eng file is fine.
I have made no changes. Shift Lock must be Off.
Out of interest I had no issues with the Cabviews either, although I think I already had the EM1-EM2 cab installed, from an earlier time, so did not need to follow the Read Me.

Good luck

I uninstalled and reinstalled MSTSBin and then it worked OK.
