Hello, Ben

Thank you for creating Charwelton - much appreciated! :)

I am having a problem with the front coupler. Whenever I attach to a consist, the brakes cannot be released, unless I uncouple from the consist. It doesn't appear to affect my other engines. It could be a problem with the wag files?????

Hi J :wink:
Charwelton is Chain coupling Vacuum braked as standard. What is your MSTS stock standardised to.
look at a loco and compare the Brake Types
Or:- Do you use MSTS Bin it is part of the improvements that the front coupling 'bug' was fixed.

Two possibilities if you still have trouble come back with some more info.

Off topic but.
Looking at the screen grab you could do with using Scottracks Textures.

Thanks for replying :)

I always convert rolling stock to automatic couplers, and vac brakes when appropriate. I'm not using MSTS Bin. I tried it a few years ago, but for some reason the front coupling bug wasn't completely fixed :-?. The bug I'm referring to only affects Charwelton for some reason.

Here are my ENG and WAG file entries:
Charwelton:

Code: Select all

	Coupling (
		Type ( Automatic )
		Spring (
			Stiffness ( 1e6N/m 5e6N/m )
			Damping ( 1e6N/m/s 1e6N/m/s )
			Break ( 1.1e7N 1.1e7N )
			r0 ( 20cm 30cm )
		)
		comment( CouplingHasRigidConnection () )
		Velocity ( 0.1m/s )
	)
	Buffers (
		Spring (
			Stiffness ( 1e6N/m 5e6N/m )
			Damping ( 1e6N/m/s 1e6N/m/s )
			r0 ( 0m 1e9 )
		)
		Centre ( 0.5 )
		Radius ( 1 )
		Angle ( 0.5deg )
	)
Mk1 Coach:

Code: Select all

	Coupling (
		Type ( Automatic )
		Spring (
			Stiffness ( 1e7N/m 1e7N/m )
			Damping ( 0.2e7N/m 0.2e7N/m )
			Break ( 1.2e9N 1.2e9N )
			r0 ( 10cm 1e9 )
		)
		CouplingHasRigidConnection ( 1 )
		Velocity (0.1m/s)
	)
	Buffers (
		Spring (
			Stiffness ( 1e7N/m 0 )
			Damping ( 1e6N/m/s 0 )
			r0 ( 0m 1e9 )
		)
		Centre ( 0.5 )
		Radius ( 1 )
		Angle ( 0.5deg )
	)
I'll try those track textures - thanks!

Hi J?
Fair point about Bin although I would not be without it. Having all stock as Autiomatic is also fair enough.
The difference is in the loco and you say your other locos couple OK then the obvious course would be to change these lines:-
Spring (
Stiffness ( 1e6N/m 5e6N/m )
Damping ( 1e6N/m/s 1e6N/m/s )
Break ( 1.1e7N 1.1e7N )
r0 ( 20cm 30cm )
)
comment( CouplingHasRigidConnection () )
Velocity ( 0.1m/s )
)

-:for the lines from a working loco. Make sure you get the )'s right, do not miss any or put more in.

Back up both locos first.

Good luck
Doug

The coach is wrong in this line....

Damping ( 0.2e7N/m 0.2e7N/m )

Should be....
Damping ( 0.2e7N/m/s 0.2e7N/m/s )

Route Riter will fix this on all your stock.

If it's got buffers it's Chain.

Hi Ben

Are you planning to release Marcia, D2023, or the remodelled Austerity shown on another thread?

D2023 and the Austerities are in a reasonable shape and could be finished off. Maybe towards Christmas I will look at getting these ready for release, my first year of teaching seems to be taking a lot of my time at the moment.

Glad the problems with Charwelton were fixed, nice to see it being used!

Are there W.I.P screenshots for D2023 per chance?

As requested...the current state of the 03.

It hasn't been finished and Polymastered yet, but the general shape is there.
