RR Run Time Error 380

Post by mickrik »

Hi folks,

I won't be building, skinning, testing for a while as I am unable to use route-riter.

First of all I was testing a fix for SCP and managed to corrupt the SCP mini-route installation,

I tried installing re-installing the mini route but RR will not recognise it and I started to get a run-time error 380 "invalid property value".

I have never had a problem like this with RR in the past.

I tried re-installing it, no difference.

I have run a registry clearance program, no difference.

I re-installed MSTS in case some needed files had become corrupt. My discs are getting old and It took about 15 attempts to load it successfully.

The odd thing is RR is displaying languages in the left hand box and I cannot clear them no matter what I do and I cannot sellect a route or an activity to check.

without RR I am stuck.

RR is working ok on my laptop, but my laptop will only run small routes. The biggest it will entertain is Burton-Derby with very low frame rates.

Anyone got any bright ideas?

Now I am no expert here but one thing I would lokk at is to see whether RR is set to read MSTS in the correct location. Now I don't have a working RR here but you can adjust where RR looks in the File option in the top LH corner. I certainly recall when checking a Mini Route I had changed the location as defined in the MiniRoute methodology, but forgot to reset it when going to the standard MSTS location.

It might be worth looking at this. Other than that Mike Simpson is very good at responding to RR queries, and may be worth dcontacting through the "rstools" site.

Oh my my my . . . did I really say all that in the thread that Clive refers to?

Not only am I needing to worry about computer hardware, but I need to worry about my own internal software - is there anything out there that will allow me to reprogramme my own brain, obviously those synaptic gaps are getting wider!!

Hi There,

Done yet another clean install and this time installed route-riter version 7.5.0.60

I still get the same error

But!!

I notice on the main RR screen the "Target Directory" button on the top row of buttons is missing.

Now once again I set myself up for a big fall!

Shouldn't the LH Pane show MSTS in whatever drive you have it located!

Fingers crossed that I am not being thicker than normal!!! :o :o

Hi Alec,

you are right

you can select a route in the left hand pane

but it won't let you confirm a route

Hi Mick, a couple of bits i copied off the Steam4me site for RR.

The last time i had a problem with RR, the bit in red sorted out the problem, though i can't remember which error i was getting.

8....I receive Error 380 when Route-Riter starts or when running TsUtils:
This has been connected to problems with the Java installation. Users have found that downloading the latest version from Java Manual Downloads for All Operating Sytems. Make sure you download the 'Manual Download' version as Windows XP SP2 has been found to block installation of the automatic version.

13...... Problems with the Java/TsUtils installation
As TsUtils is now used for all compress/uncompress operations within Route_Riter, it is imperative that a working Java setup is running on your PC. The latest version can always be downloaded from Java Manual Downloads for All Operating Sytems. Make sure you download the 'Manual Download' version as Windows XP SP2 and higher have been found to block installation of the automatic version.
From v7.0.23, Route_Riter automatically runs a java script on startup, and will advise you if Java/TsUtils are not working. At which time Route_Riter will close.

TsUtils is normally installed in the Route_Riter\TsUtils folder, but if you have installed Java and it still does not work, you should go to the Java folder, normally at c:\Program Files\Java, under which there may be several sub-folders like jre1.4.0 and jre1.6.0 - The one with the highest number is the latest version. Open this folder and you should see sub-folders bin and lib make a new folder 'classes' which will then appear between these two and copy the contents of the TsUtil folder into this new Classes folder. After which TsUtils should run OK. You may then remove all older versions of Java (they occupy about 114MB per version) using the Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs option.

Hi Mick,

I note you're using a 64bit version of windows. What version of java are you using and is it the 32bit or 64bit?

Hi Jeoff,

I previously had version 6 in both 32 and 64 bit and there were previously no problems running like this.

I have followed the TsUtils instructions and installed the latest version which is 7/4 it does not say wether it is 32 or 64 bit. The java site picked the version suitable for my setup.

Hi Folks

FIXED!!! :D :D :D

Although I may be critisized for the way I have performed the fix.

I have done a system restore to the last critical update which was 23rd of May and I kneww RR was working ok on that day.

Route-riter requires a 32bit Java download.

At least now I can check routes again.

More importantly I can compress Loco shape files.

Thanks for your support and wisdom

Pleased to hear that the RR problem has been sorted.

Personally I don't see why you or anyone should be criticised for fixing a problem,; and using restore points must be an acceptable solution.

Your excellent models, which are much appreciated, would be sorely missed if the relevant software was not working.
