Hi Art, based on the info. that Peter has supplied it looks like your upgrade is going to work
out cheaper than what has been recommended for mine.
I will wait a few more months but I am seriously thinking about my upgrade and will see if
it gives better results.
I am lucky that my computer shop is quite handy for me and up to now are very reasonable
in price for the jobs they have done for me.
Why not pop in to your nearest shop and see what they say and how much they will charge
to replace the graphics card.

Hi Art, putting in your old graphics card details against what you have been recommended on
Google search, one post does say that would work fine with your computer.
The general feeling I got from other search results were that the NVIDIA GEForce MX 4000 is
a very old one and if you wanted to upgrade your software to Windows 7 it would not work.
Any better graphics card that would fit your computer would create more problems and would be
a waste of money, obviously the shop has come up with the best option based on the age and
performance of your computer so unless some-one disagrees with my post, I would go with the
shops suggestion.

Hi,
I believe Art is currently using Windows XP, so should be OK.

The problems installing similar AGP cards under Windows 7 appears to be due to the chipset used on the motherboard (SiS) but can be overcome. See : http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-card ... post900453 (I know it says HD 3650, but refers to 4xxx, 3xxx and 2xxx series of cards!).

Cheers,
Ged

Hi Art, looking at the search messages, there were various drivers for your old graphics card
and the one for XP is amongst the list, at the higher end.
The only one that was not listed was Windows 7 so as I said in my earlier post, the one you have
been advised to fit is o.k. with XP.
I have and like Windows XP and really I see no benefit running MSTS with any other system, with
a lot more hassle getting permissions correct for it to work.
