I mention this only because I know you have amended some Cabviews.

Have you ever changed the "tankcab.cvf" to cure your problems with loco parts in the shift+1 view you like to use?
If you have it will affect all locos that use the cab.
By "outside" do you mean shift+1 or up arrow?

If you have not touched tankcab.cvf then it is likely to be settings. My MSTS is quite good on my PC but the frame rates on SCP drop to 5 at Polemadie.

Good luck
Doug
No Doug.
So this solution below does not work for you now then?
abclare wrote:Hi All.
Yes by staying in the Cab that has done it once out of the yard it works on all views thamks everyone.

Your reply to Pete.
Is this what you want:- 2.00 GB of RAM 137GB OF fREE sPACE.
I think you have quoted Free Hard Drive space. This does not impact running MSTS
2.00GB RAM is about OK It's the same as mine.
What is your Graphics Card

Good luck
Doug

Hi Art,
It should be in the Manual that came with the PC unless you have changed the card then you should know which one was used.
To display the Card details on the XP OS. The only way I know is.
Start, My Computer, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Device Manager, Display Adaptors. Shows the make and Model.

Good luck

Hi Art
Can you check the route using Route Riter to see if you are missing any shape files as that could cause the crashing.
Open RR and then (to get to the mini route) go to the left hand top window and double click on the drive letter. You should now have a list of all in the drive. Navigate to the mini route for scp and double click. Double click train simulator, double click routes and finally double click on Scottish Cental Plus.
Now in the route utilities tab, click on confirm route. Finally click on check route. Say yes to any pop up that appears.
It will take some time but let us know of any errors/missing files.
Thanks.

Hi Dougie,

Easier way,

Start>Right click My Computer>Properties>Hardware tab>Device Manager

Should do the same thing in half the time and effort!

Simon.
Kindest regards,
Simon.

Well what did I say. :D I now know three ways to get to Device Manager 8) 'cause I have it as a short cut as well. But did not want to confuse Art too much.

Cheers
Good luck

Hi,

Sorry haven't answered before but been in my second home again (hospital) I think it it resource problem as Polmadie is always a low frame rate area a bit like Clapham Junc on Dorset Coast, even on my computer when testing it at the start I was only getting 3 fps.
It always worked from inside the cab but outside could cause it to crash.
Try Turning the sound sliders down a tad and aslo in the graphics turn it from best graphics to best performance

That is the info. Someone with knowledge of Card capabilities now needs to say whether or not it is adequate.
Sounds like an older card to me.

This is my CPU, Memory, and Card and that is about five years old.
XP SP3
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz
1.5GB RAM
Radeon 9250 256MB

And as I said my frame rates are low at 4-5 FPS in the area (all MSTS settings maximum).

Good luck

The MX4000 (AGP) is a fairly old card Art. Our Shuttles that we used on the road purchased in 2003 had MX4200 cards.

A quick look around, shows the card has only 64 Megs of video RAM, so low frame rates have to be expected in the Polmadie area and Clapham Junction on Dorset Coast.

The CPU at 3GHz is fine for MSTS, the 1.5 Gigs RAM might also need beefing up to 2Gigs or even 3Gigs.

Hi Art, my 6 year old computer has a 256MB NVIDIA BFG GF 7600CT OVCLOCKED SLI graphics
card and while it caters for MSTS well, it is starting to show its age.
I have been recommended to fit in a couple of years, a GEFORCE 430 and this is only £47.99
with a £15.00 fitting charge.
The original one was priced at £120.56 in 2006/7 so it shows how much certain things have
come down in price since computers were more available.
Do a Google search for the Geforce 430 and see what it says about it, I would only lose the
computer for a couple of hours while they fit and test it and that is not a lot to ask if it
solves any problems I may have in the future.

Bob, your 7600 board is PCI-E, the newer GeForce 430 is also PCI-E so not an issue with the upgrade.

Art clearly has an AGP slot motherboard and no PCI-E. His only option is a higher up the range AGP card.

A quick look for AGP cards brought up this one:

nVIDIA 6200AGP8x 350MHz Graphics Card with 512MB 64BIT DDR2 DVI VGA AGP - £29.99 from Amazon.

Hi Peter, thanks for your information, not being into the inside of a computer I didn't know
there were different fittings.
Obviously I was given the newer graphics card advice based on my original specs, not realising
that the older ones were not the same.
Sorry about the confusion I may have caused Art.
