Act query

Hi,

I've created an activity that has a problem with the player train written in. However the problem with the player train requires you to drive at a reduced speed and I was wondering how to put it into the act that the act ends if you exceed said speed.

Can you do this?

and

How straight forward is it to do?

If this is in the wrong forum I apologise

In activity editor there's a tab called "window". If you click on it there's something called "Action Events", click on that and then click on "New".

In the menu that comes up, the first section is highlighted. It's a dropdown menu so choose "reach speed". In the popup box, put the maximum speed in.

Then go down to where it says outcome and choose "End Activity without success" and click ok.

It is in force for the whole act, not just part of it but if someone goes over the max speed, they will fail the act.

Niall,

Thank you for that I can now make that change and finalise that activity

Then you've never run my acts!

Quite a few of my Glas-Car acts have speed limits especially if you're driving something with a 75mph top speed along the main line (which can be anything up to 110mph). It's there to stop people driving too fast, thus not being realistic and also arriving too early at stations and ruining the carefully-planned AI!

I'm not going to say what speed I've set but you have to drop from the line speed to a lower speed due to a spanner I've thrown in.

Don't forget, that's a maximum speed that lasts the whole act.

I was only planning on a reduced speed for the last part of the act. mind you the service stops at every stop til the spanner is thrown up

Hi,

Another query act related So I just thought I'd used the same thread to save starting a new one.

Does any one roughly know how many wagons/coaches a BR standard 4 Mogul can haul with a Tractive effort of 24,170 pounds?

The act idea I'm toying with is for a standard 4 mogul to take a passenger train which has left Wigan earlier in the morning running Via Halifax and Queensbury as far as Keighley where a Britannia takes over to Carlisle.

the route is KWVR V2
Then the standard 4 mogul brings some vans back in the afternoon before heading home to is home shed.

Thanks

Hi Ben,
I was only planning on a reduced speed for the last part of the act.
You can add a Restricted Speed Zone to any part of your player's path - it will show as red on the track monitor.
I haven't yet found out how, or if, you can enforce it! I would have thought there may be a way, because, after all, the sim knows when you're exceeding the speed limit.

Cheers,
Ged

I believe, but can't test at present that you may be able to use a combination of location events to alter the state of the action event, so that you can temporarily lower the speed for the player.

If I remember I'll take a look next week.

Ged,

I've used Tsr's the little red restrictions before and they are easy to place.

Geoff,

That would be great if you could do that. If you want to look at the act it's for the LSC route I can send it over to you if you have the route.

Hi Ben,
Depends how steep the grade is but I would say 5 or 6 on hilly routes 8-10 on the flat

Hi All,

I've done a test tonight on NWC and I have got it working whereby you obey the speed limits for a section; then are reduced to no more than 40mph and can then subsequently re-obey the speed limits.

Not fully with it tonight as have been up pretty much since 6am (TT time) yesterday morning until now (slept poorly on flight last night!). Will try and write a guide explaining it in the next few days - might also upload a sample activity explaining it. I guess I should probably pick a default route for this?
