Re: Act query
First draft of guide is here
Could somebody take a read and have a go at following it through please?

Re: Act query
Looks good but I can't test it until Thursday night. The raising and lowering of activation levels is covered in the Rich Garber guide that is available via Abacus (or was last time I checked). Using those techniques certainly adds to activities rather than being a simple sprint along the line.

Re: Act query
Cheers!
I'd forgotten about Rich's guide to be honest. I've got a copy somewhere and I should try and dig it out I guess.
Have to say having trialled it a bit I do like the fact that you can force the activity to fail for speeding

Re: Act query
Hi Geoffrey,
I've used your guide to set some speed limits for an act I'm working on for Briscard.
I must say it was very easily followed and I adapted what I needed to what your guide said.
For example, your guide uses location events to trigger the impending speed change, where as I used a mixture of location events and pick up and drop off cars as triggers.
Seems to have worked a treat! I always knew there was a way of doing it, but never knew how. And I wasn't aware at the time that there was already a guide available.
Thanks for taking the time to produce this phase of the guide, it has been a great help!

Re: Act query
Glad it's been of use Simon (and easy to follow - sometimes I start rambling a little!)
I hadn't thought about using other events such as picking up/dropping off carriages to trigger the changes as I don't tend to do freight activities where this is likely to happen. I'm guessing it's pretty much the same thing though - you set the event as "pick up" and get it to change the activation level?
If I get time; I'll look into expanding it a bit further and possibly uploading it into the library proper
